Head Coach Steve Smith
On his team's pitching performance:
"On the mound we were just pretty sloppy. The good news is this was a really impressive outing for Trent Blank. During the week we have had off, one of the things that he has done is drop his arm down a little bit. He didn't give up any velocity and got a whole lot more sink and movement. He was able to miss some bats and that's very, very encouraging to see that."
On the effort from his club:
"We outhit them, which is what is frustrating, because we haven't done that much and I don't think we have lost a game this year that we have outhit the opponent. It is not for lack of trying. We just have got some real inexperience on the field and on the mound and behind the plate. It's who we are and we are having to fight through it and try to get better. The effort is there, but the awareness is sometimes not."
On moving Cal Towey up to the leadoff spot:
"I think he is either first or second on the team in on-base percentage. I flip-flopped him and Logan (Vick) today. I thought Logan swung the bat better today."
On the quick turnaround of playing on Wednesday night:
"It will be a quick turnaround and we need to turn it around."
Sophomore Right-Fielder Cal Towey
On being the leadoff hitter:
"I don't remember the last time that I led off. Coach just told me right as I started taking batting practice. (There was) nothing really to change."
On his three-hit night:
"It was good to definitely do that. I just keep trying to put the ball in play every time and hopefully good stuff will happen."
On the game:
"We had our opportunities. We just need to try to clean up our game and go hard the next couple of games. Hopefully, stuff will turnaround."
Sophomore First Baseman Max Muncy
On his homerun:
"I just got a fastball out over the plate. He got a little bit too much of the plate and I put a good swing on it. When I first hit it I didn't think it was gone, because I have played here a lot and it is a graveyard here."
On tying the game after the rain delay:
"I just wanted to tie the game up and it felt great knowing I had given us a chance. Coming out of that rain delay, 5-2, it was looking a little bleak, but we fought, which was good for the team."
On bouncing back from the loss quickly:
"I think it is actually good for us, because this is always going to be in the back of our mind, but it makes it a lot easier knowing that we don't have a couple days off to think about it. We can just go out tomorrow and worry about tomorrow and win that game."
