WACO, Texas- After having two home games washed away to weather last week, Baylor baseball returns from San Diego to open up a four-game home stand on Wednesday. BU (5-6) will face Lamar (8-4) at 4 p.m. CT as the Bears have won all four games to start the season at Baylor Ballpark.
Baylor is coming off an 0-4 weekend in San Diego and will be looking to bounce back against Lamar, who BU owns a 41-31-1 all-time edge over. The Cardinals have won three straight in the series, though, and enter the game after taking two out of three games from UTPA over the weekend. The Bears lead Lamar 22-12 in games played in Waco.

BAYLOR BALLPARK'S HOME SWEET HOME ADVANTAGE
In Baylor's first four home games of the 2014 season, it outscored its opponents 37-6 with a 4-0 record and team .325 batting average while BU's pitchers racked up 34 strikeouts in 34.0 innings, allowing just 15 hits and eight walks. Since the park opened in 1999, Baylor owns a 350-143 record at Baylor Ballpark and has never had a losing season in the stadium. The closest BU came to a losing season was in 2011, when the Bears were 16-14 at Baylor Ballpark.
BAYLOR LOOKING TO SHAKE THREE-GAME SKID VS. LAMAR
Despite Baylor's 41-31-1 edge over Lamar in the all-time series, the Cardinals have taken each of the last three meetings. BU fell to LU twice in the 2012 season and once in 2011. The last win for the Bears over the Cardinals came on June 5, 2010, in the NCAA Fort Worth Regional with a 6-4 decision. The Bears are 22-12 in Waco against Lamar.
BAYLOR DISPLAYING PATIENCE AT THE PLATE
Baylor has walked 49 times in its first 11 games for an average of 4.45 walks per game. BU has had multiple walks in every game except on March 1 vs. California. Lawton Langford leads the team with 12 walks while Brett Doe ranks second with seven. Overall, Baylor batters are averaging 3.9 pitches per plate appearance, led by Doe's 4.7 pitches seen per plate appearance.
BAYLOR STARTING PITCHERS WORKING DEEPER INTO GAMES
Baylor's starters have done a good job of pitching deeper into games as of late as each starter over the last seven games has thrown at least five innings. Austin Stone has gone the deepest of any starter this season with his seven-inning start at San Diego on March 2. Overall, Baylor pitchers are averaging throwing 3.5 pitches per batter faced, led by Nick Lewis' 3.0 pitches per batter faced.

Lawton Langford GETTING ON BASE AT HIGH RATE
Senior middle infielder Lawton Langford has reached base in 18 straight games dating back to last season. He broke up a no-hitter in the sixth inning on March 2 at San Diego with a single as he went 2-for-2 with two walks in a perfect day at the plate. On the season, he is hitting .343 with 10 runs in 11 games to go with 12 walks, five RBI, two steals and a double. He leads the team in walks and on-base percentage (.529) and is tied for the team lead in runs scored with Grayson Porter.
Mitch Price ENJOYING HOT START AT THE PLATE
Sophomore first baseman Mitch Price has reached base in a career-high-tying eight straight games. He's had an RBI in six of eight games played while he's hitting .357 with 11 RBI, four walks, four runs, four doubles and a home run. He leads the team in batting average, slugging percentage (.607), RBI and doubles.
