WACO, Texas- Baylor baseball begins its Big 12 Conference schedule this weekend as the Bears welcome Texas Tech to Baylor Ballpark. All three games will be televised and are set for 6:30 p.m. CT Friday on FOX College Sports, noon Saturday on FOX Sports 1 and 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX Sports Southwest.
Baylor (8-8) heads into the weekend off a 7-2 loss at No. 30 Houston on Tuesday after taking two of three from No. 3 Cal State Fullerton last weekend at home. Texas Tech (15-3) enters the series on a seven-game winning streak after a neutral site win over No. 10 Rice, home win over New Mexico, four home wins vs. New Mexico State last weekend and another home win against Abilene Christian on Tuesday. TTU leads narrowly leads the all-time series 77-75 but the Bears owns a 47-27 edge in Waco.

BAYLOR DOING WELL IN BIG 12 OPENERS
Since the Big 12's inaugural season in 1997, Baylor has done well in the league's first game, home game, series and home series. In Big 12 opening games, the Bears are 9-8 with their last win coming on March 16, 2012, against Texas Tech. In Big 12 home opening games, BU is 10-7 with its last win coming on March 16, 2012, against TTU as well. In Big 12 opening series, Baylor is 12-5 and has won its last two. The last league opening series lost for BU came March 18-20, 2011, against TTU. In Big 12 home opening series, the Bears are 14-3 and have won two straight. The last league home opening series loss for BU was March 18-20, 2011, against TTU.
BAYLOR AGAINST THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE
As one of the league's founding members in 1997, Baylor owns a 478-531-4 record against the current members of the Big 12 Conference. The Bears own a 259-194 all-time record in regular season play. BU's all-time record against current league foes is as follows: Kansas (45-13), Kansas State (41-19), Oklahoma (37-40), Oklahoma State (35-38), TCU (138-112), Texas (105-231-4), Texas Tech (75-77) and West Virginia (2-1).
BAYLOR PLAYERS AMONG BIG 12 STAT LEADERS
Baylor has several players ranking amongst the top 10 in several stat categories. On the mound, Austin Stone (1.61) and Brad Kuntz (1.71) rank fourth and eighth in ERA, respectively. The duo also ranks tied for third with two wins each. Kuntz (.182) and Stone (.195) also rank second and fourth in opponent batting average, respectively. Josh Michalec leads the league with six saves. At the plate, Darryn Sheppard and Grayson Porter are tied for sixth in the league with two home runs apiece. Adam Toth ranks tied for fifth with five steals. Lawton Langford is tied for the league lead with 16 walks and ranks fourth in on-base percentage (.486).
BAYLOR AGAINST RANKED TEAMS IN 2014
Baylor has gone 3-4 against ranked teams this season. The Bears opened the season with a 9-7 comeback win over No. 19 Arizona State before losing the next two games of the series on Feb. 14-16 in Tempe, Ariz. Last weekend, Baylor took two of three from No. 3 Cal State Fullerton at Baylor Ballpark. On Tuesday, BU fell 7-2 on the road to No. 30 Houston.
BAYLOR IN TV GAMES
Baylor is 49-53 all-time in TV games and 2-0 this season. The Bears' two TV wins both came against ranked foes. The first was a 9-7 comeback win at No. 19 Arizona State on Feb. 14 on the Pac-12 Network. The second was a 5-4 series rubber match win on March 9 against No. 3 Cal State Fullerton on FOX Sports Southwest. Since 2011, BU is 19-12 in TV games. Overall, the Bears are 14-23 on the FOX family of networks.
BAYLOR BALLPARK'S HOME SWEET HOME ADVANTAGE
In Baylor's first eight home games of the 2014 season, it has outscored its opponents 46-23 with a 7-1 record and team .264 batting average while BU's pitchers have racked up 53 strikeouts in 70.0 innings, allowing just 43 hits and 24 walks. Since the park opened in 1999, Baylor owns a 356-145 record at Baylor Ballpark and has never had a losing season in the stadium. The closest BU came to a losing season was in 2011, when the Bears were 16-14 at Baylor Ballpark. The last time Baylor started its home season with five or more straight wins was in 2012 (6-0) as the Bears won their first five home games this season.
