NORMAN, Okla. - Baylor baseball's first road trip of the season will officially begin a little earlier than expected. The Bears and Sooners have decided to play a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. Friday at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
Baylor (11-6) and Oklahoma (17-2) made the change due to possible snow that is forecast for the Norman area on Saturday. The teams will play at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Friday, take Saturday off, and then return to the diamond for Sunday's series finale at 1 p.m.
This is the second consecutive year the Bears' have had their first Big 12 series of the year rearranged by weather. Last season, Baylor and Texas A&M had to move their Friday night game to Monday due to inclement weather in the Waco area.
Baylor hasn't opened Big 12 play with a doubleheader since Feb. 24, 2001, when the Bears took both games against Texas A&M in College Station. The Bears knocked off Oral Roberts in both games of their only doubleheader this season when the teams met on March 6.
