WACO, Texas - Baylor baseball's weekend split three-game series with Dallas Baptist has had a change in schedule as the teams will now play a doubleheader on Saturday's eighth annual Heart of Texas Community Tailgate at Turner Riverfront Complex. The first game on Saturday will start at 3 p.m. CT and the second will start an hour after completion of the first game.
The series will stay with Friday's originally scheduled contest in Dallas at 6:30 p.m., but will now give both teams a day off on Sunday. Any tickets that were purchased for Sunday's game will be honored to get into both Saturday contests.
The Heart of Texas Community Tailgate is a free event for families that features Baylor baseball and softball games, food and activities at Getterman Stadium and Baylor Ballpark. BU softball will play Oklahoma Saturday at 4 p.m.
The event will get under way at 1 p.m. with inflatables, carnival games and lunch at the ballpark featuring free food, Dr Pepper products and Bluebell ice cream. Children 12 and under must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times. Free general admission tickets to the Baylor softball and baseball games - while supplies last - will be available starting at 1 p.m.
Baseball will also feature two other promos for fans on Saturday. The second set of trading cards, featuring the team's sophomores, will be given away to the first 500 fans. There will also be a chipping contest in between the two doubleheader games as part of Masters Day at the park. The first 50 fans 18 years old and above to sign up will be eligible to participate. The winner of the chipping contest will receive a Baylor prize pack.
