Little Selected to Work With USA Baseball

May 15, 2008

WACO, Texas -- Baylor University associate director of athletic media relations Larry Little has been selected to serve as press officer for the 2008 USA Baseball National Team (collegiate) that will represent the United States in international competition this summer. The summer tour runs June 10 through July 27.

Little, who is in his eighth year with the Baylor Athletic Media Relations office and his fifth year working with the Baylor baseball program, makes his second tour of duty with USA Baseball. He also served as press officer for the 2005 National Team, which was coached by Baylor head coach Steve Smith.

This summer, Little will work with Oral Roberts head coach Rob Walton, who was an assistant on the 2005 National Team coaching staff. Little will report to USA Baseball Director of Media and Public Relations Jake Fehling and National Team General Manager Eric Campbell, with whom Little also worked in 2005.

"To be chosen to this position once is exciting enough; to be chosen a second time is truly humbling," Little said. "I am honored that Eric Campbell and Jake Fehling asked me to work with the National Team for a second tour, and the opportunity to work again with Rob Walton was one on which I did not want to pass. I am equally thankful that Baylor allows and encourages such endeavors."

USA Baseball will conduct National Team Trials throughout the East Coast during June before hosting Chinese Taipei for a six-game series June 25-30 in the Raleigh-Durham, N.C., area. The National Team then spends the month of July in Europe, competing in the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week in the Netherlands (July 4-13) and in the 2008 FISU World Collegiate Championship in the Czech Republic (July 17-27).

USA Baseball is the National Governing Body of amateur baseball in the United States and is a member of the United States Olympic Committee.
