Kolt Browder is the ninth different player in program history to be named an Academic All-American.

TOWSON, Md. - Baylor junior right-handed pitcher Kolt Browder has been named a third-team Capital One Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Friday.
For the first time in program history, Baylor has had student-athletes earn Academic All-America honors in four consecutive seasons. Aaron Miller was a second-team honoree in 2009 and Chris Slater earned second-team honors in 2010 and first-team recognition in 2011.
An engineering major from Coldspring, Texas, Browder is one of six Academic All-Americans selected to this season's teams with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Browder is a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree, and if he's chosen as a senior next year, he'll join Zach Dillon as the only four-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 honorees in program history.
Browder joins pitcher Pat Combs (1988 first team), first baseman Charley Carter (1998 first team), pitcher Jason Jennings (1998 third team; 1999 first team), outfielder Jon Topolski (1998 second team; 1999 second team), first baseman Ross Bennett (2003 first team), catcher Zach Dillon (2006 first team), outfielder Aaron Miller (2009 second team) and outfielder Chris Slater (2010 second team; 2011 first team) on Baylor's list of baseball Academic All-Americans.
Browder was eligible for Academic All-America honors after being named first-team Academic All-District VII. He was a second-team Academic All-District VI selection a season ago, and he joins Texas A&M's Ross Stripling as the only Big 12 representatives on this year's Academic All-America teams.
Browder has pitched 16 times out of Baylor's bullpen this season, posting a 1-1 record with one save and a 2.79 ERA over 19.1 innings. He's held opponents scoreless in 12 of 16 appearances, including an outing when he worked 2.2 perfect innings with three strikeouts to earn a save in the Big 12 season opener against Texas Tech on March 16.
Baylor returns to action Friday at 6 p.m. when it hosts Oral Roberts in the opening round of the 2012 NCAA Waco Regional. The Bears are the No. 4 national seed in the 2012 NCAA Baseball Championship and are hosting a Regional for the fourth time.
