Green Grabs 2-0 Lead in Sic ‘Em World Series

WACO, Texas – Team Green walked away with a 10-5 win over Team Gold on Sunday afternoon at Baylor Ballpark in the annual five-game intrasquad Sic ‘Em World Series. Green now has a 2-0 series lead.

Green started the scoring in the third inning on an RBI double by Nick Loftin. Then in the sixth, Green rallied for four more runs. Tucker Johnson, Chase Wehsener, Levi Gilcrease and Richard Cunningham all drove in runs in the frame.

Green then put the game away in the seventh with five more runs. Johnson, Davion Downey, Cunningham and Loftin (two RBI) plated runs during the rally.

Gold answered with a Shea Langeliers grand slam in the bottom of the seventh and an RBI double by Josh Bissonette in the eighth, but the comeback fell short there.

Green starter Kyle Hill earned the win, allowing one hit in five scoreless innings. Gold’s Hayden Kettler took a tough loss, giving up one run on three hits in five innings.

The series resumes Thursday, Nov. 16 at 5 p.m. CT with a chance for Green to win the title. Games four and five will be Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. and Nov. 19 at 2 p.m. respectively. All games are free and open to the public.
