Nov. 16, 2017

WACO, Texas – Team Green earned a comeback 4-3 win over Team Gold on Thursday evening at Baylor Ballpark to secure a victory in the Sic ‘Em World Series five-game intrasquad scrimmage through three games.

Green made the first move as Cole Weaver singled home a run in the bottom of the second inning. However, Gold answered with a rally in the third. Billy Mote led off with an HBP and scored on a double by Hunter Seay. Cole Haring followed with another double to put Gold ahead. Then a two-out RBI single by T.J. Raguse made it a 3-1 edge.

In the bottom of the third, though, Green had a counter. Richard Cunningham led off with an HBP, but was thrown out at home on Nick Loftin’s double. Loftin moved into third base on the throw home, and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Davis Wendzel to make it a 3-2 Gold lead.

Levi Gilcrease came through for Green in the bottom of the fourth with a two-out RBI bunt single that also moved a runner to third. A wild pitch then put Green ahead 4-3.

Green reliever Joe Heineman, who earned the win, came through with a clutch performance to grab the series victory. In the fourth, he came in and stranded two runners. Then in the fifth he worked over a double to leave another runner on base.

Green’s Luke Boyd picked up the save with two scoreless innings.

The teams will finish the series with games at 3 p.m. CT on Friday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. All games are free and open to the public.
