Big man slated to take over the post position in 2000-2001… Third-year sophomore praised by coaches for offseason improvement, particularly on agility… Showed impressive shot-blocking ability in latter stages of freshman season, including a Big 12 Tournament-record eight swats in victory over Nebraska… Attended Pete Newell’s Big Man camp in Hawai’i during offseason.

1999-2000 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in 28 games as backup center… Totaled 35 blocks, despite averaging just 12.0 minutes per game… 35 blocks ranked 10th on Baylor’s single-season list… Registered an impressive 18 blocks in the season’s final seven games, all against Big 12 teams… Set a Big 12 Tournament single-game record with eight blocks in upset victory over Nebraska in Kansas City… Averaged 2.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 49 percent from the field in 1999-2000… Also totaled 10 steals and shot 52.2 percent from the 3-point line for the season… Came on strong at Jacksonville, shooting 5-for-5 from the field for a season-high 11 points... HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 24 points, 16 rebounds and 9.9 blocks for Evant High School in Evant, Texas, as a senior... Evant reached the third round of the playoffs and lost to a team which advanced on to the state tournament in Austin... Earned all-state, all-region and all-area... Played in the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-star game in Houston... As a junior, averaged 14 points, 10 boards and nine blocks... Selected 1997 district co-MVP, Central Texas’ “Best Blocker” in 1997 and among Who’s Who in Sports in 1997... Made two all-tournament teams, played at the invitation-only Mid-America Basketball Academy in Kansas City, Mo., in the BCI national championship tournament in Colorado Springs and on Bill Linton’s AAU summer league team...
