AMES, Iowa (AP) - DeAndre Kane had a season-high 30 points with nine assists, eight rebounds and five steals as No. 9 Iowa State defeated No. 7 Baylor 87-72 on Tuesday night, setting a school record with its 14th straight win.
Melvin Ejim added 18 points for the Cyclones (14-0, 2-0 Big 12). They outscored Baylor 47-34 in the second half and rolled to a surprisingly decisive win over a fellow Big 12 title contender.
Kane had 17 points in the first half, helping his struggling teammates take a two-point lead. The rest of the Cyclones got untracked early in the second half and blew past the Bears with a 28-12 run.
Gary Franklin and Brady Heslip both had 15 points for Baylor (12-2, 0-1), which saw its win streak snapped at six games.
Isaiah Austin had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Baylor.
Cory Jefferson (10 rebounds) had his 6th double-digit rebounding game of the season (18th of career).
Gary Franklin (15 points) scored in double figures for the 7th time in his BU career (5th of season) - it was the 2nd-most points he's scored in a game behind the 22 he had against Chaminade on Nov. 25, 2013.
Brady Heslip (15 points) scored in double figures for the 9th time this season and 43rd of his career.
Isaiah Austin had a season-high 12 rebounds - it was the 16th time he's recorded double-digit rebounds in 49 career games.
Austin had his 2nd double-double of the season (10 points, 12 rebounds) and the 13th of his career, which ranks 4th among active Big 12 Conference players.
