RV/RV BAYLOR 74, OKLAHOMA 61 - Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)
Tuesday, January 11, 2011 - Attendance: 7,572

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement:
"I thought the crowd was super and I liked some of the things we did. We got a lead, didn't like us giving it back, but liked us not letting them gain the lead in the second half. We did a good job extending it and at the end of the game. I thought defensively we were very good except for our points off turnovers and second chance points. Other than that I thought we executed well. When we didn't turn the ball over (we shot) 62 percent, we just got to get more shots now. I thought the guys were unselfish and tried to make the extra pass and the right pass, but credit OU for good defense, but we have to control that better."

On Perry Jones III's play:
"We like the beast. It is more enjoyable watching film with him when he has 25 and seven, but again I think Perry is just scratching the surface and I think that is why everyone recognizes his upside. We are just trying to get as much of that out as we can now."

On closing the game well:
"Well I think you look at the Texas Tech game, you look at this game, I think we have closed games well. I think you look at the three losses; we didn't close well, so I think that is important to finish strong. I think we have executed better later in the game."

Freshman Forward Perry Jones III
On gaining more confidence with each game:
"I credit coach Drew, he took some time out to watch film with me after every game and practice and that has helped me in my confidence. That is helping me in my confidence and helping me be more aggressive on the defensive end as well as on the offensive end."

On his play during the game:
"Coach Mills talked to me before the game and told me to utilize my strengths, don't take anything out of my game. That hurts the team because I am sitting there not being aggressive towards the rim. I tried to do my best and utilize my abilities."

Senior Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On how Perry Jones III's scoring helps his game:
"It helps a lot. He takes more pressure off my back. With him playing like he did tonight, that's him. That is the Perry Jones I know. He is being physical and taking it to the rim and getting to the free throw line and knocking down shots; being all over the court."

On conference play:
"You can face a great team in the Big 12 conference. Like I said, we are taking it one game at a time and staying focus and getting prepared for the next one."

Head Coach Jeff Capel
Opening Statement:
"That's Baylor. They are a very, very talented team. They've got some talented individual players. I'm really proud of my team. I thought we fought hard. Without Cade (Davis,) which he's our most experienced guy, our first Big 12 road game, that hurt us a little bit. But the guys that played really gave us everything they had. They fought and we put ourselves in position where we had an opportunity down the stretch. We had too many mistakes and too many offensive rebounds for Baylor, especially in key moments. There were too many and-one plays for (Baylor,) and quite frankly too much Perry Jones (III.) Again, if we fight like we did, the mistakes we made are correctable mistakes. But if we have this type of effort in the practices we have leading up to it, then I like our chances going forward."

On the team's effort:
"We had great effort. (Baylor) was just more talented, let's be honest. The guy that many people are saying is going to be the number one pick, certainly played like it and exhibited it today. You have a guy could quite possibly become the all-time leading scorer in the history of the Big 12. With two guys like that, that's pretty good. (LaceDarius Dunn) provided them with great leadership today and Perry Jones (III) was a star."

On gaining confidence from tonight's loss:
"I hope we did, I hope we did. Again, we fought. I thought we fought our first game. We just couldn't make shots and I thought we got a little fatigued in that game. We fought this game. I thought everyone out there did it. We made mistakes, but if we make mistakes when we're going hard then we can live with that, especially if they're correctable mistakes. There are some things that we can go back and watch on tape and talk about, and hopefully when we're down in Austin we can have the same kind of effort. We can correct those mistakes and perhaps put ourselves in a better position to win."

Forward Andrew Fitzgerald
On the play of Perry Jones III:
"(He was) very, very aggressive. He was positioned well. For a freshman he knows how to use his athleticism very well."

Guard Steven Pledger
On Perry Jones III being a lottery pick:
"He's pretty good. I remember him from AAU and he's gotten a lot better. He was younger and he's pretty good."

On finding his shot in the second half:
"Me and my father just talked about slowing my hands down. I tend to, when I get away, to start rushing the ball a little bit. After the first couple of shots I remembered what he told me. After that breakaway dunk I slowed my hands down. It calmed me down and I started hitting jumpers and the rest was history."
