  Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement:
“ I think we were all embarrassed by our first-half performance. You have to give Kansas a lot of credit for coming out and really punching us in the face as they say. Second half I am proud we came back and gave ourselves a chance until a couple turnovers in transition, a couple missed free throws, but at least we gave ourselves a chance to get back in the game. I liked that fight of our guys. I think this will be a great learning experience. I think we will really grow from this. This is first time we have been beaten at home in a while and the first time in a long time we have been beaten that handily. Hopefully this will help us for the rest of the Big 12 season.”

On Kansas’ production in the first half:
“We didn’t defend like we were capable of. Second half we did a much better job. At the end of the day, you still have to make those shots. They were efficient. We had some breakdowns in man and zone. Second-half we were much better. It will be something to grow on for the future.”

On his defense:
“Again, give Kansas a lot of credit. I know we are embarrassed about how we played, but they deserve a lot of credit.”

  Freshman Forward Perry Jones II

On Kansas’ first half of play:
“They were very efficient. The twins (Marcus and Markieff Morris) were efficient. They got the ball in the paint. They got the ball inside. We didn’t do our job. We didn’t box out and hit. They got second-chance shots. That is something we have to do. We have to rebound better on the defensive and offensive end, so we can get going and get our points.”

On the play of Marcus and Markieef Morris:
"They just play hard. They are a good combination. They know how to work together. They are twins, they know who each other are and know how to play together.”

  Sophomore Guard A.J. Walton

On his alley-oop pass turnover to LaceDarius Dunn:
"A bad decision on my end, I saw Lace and Perry running, just bad communication on my part.”

On Baylor’s second half run:
"We knew we could do it. They were just that much better than us. We just came out and fought. We have it in us, we just can’t get ourselves in that situation.”

  Junior Forward Anthony Jones

On his play:
"We were down 21 at the half. I just wanted to come out and get our team back in it. Seeing as how they were playing Lace, as coach said, he freed up a lot of us to get shots. Tonight was my night and it was just up to me to knock down shots.”

  Head Coach Bill Self

Opening Statement:
“That was by far the best we have played. We haven’t played that well in half, except for maybe a four or five minute stretch. But we played really well from start to finish in the first half. Second half we weren’t nearly as aggressive, got a little complacent, and (Baylor’s) little three-quarter zone press, we were just kind of content to get across rather than attack it. I thought we were great the first half. Of course the twins (Marcus and Markieff Morris) were the best players in the game. But I really felt like everybody played well, especially in the first half.”

On the twins’ efficiency in the first half:
“They were 13-of-14 (shooting) and didn’t turn it over and had three or four assists on top of that. They’re good against the zone if we can just figure out how to give them touches. I thought we attacked the zone well in the first half. They’re so unselfish is the thing. They score the ball, but they really do a great job of looking for others.”

On playing with something to prove:
“This will sound bad, but all teams go through this – this is the most ready team we’ve had play this year. Going through the locker room, energy, all guys on the same page, focused, that’s something that we’ve struggled with and struggled with in the second half, is playing 40 minutes. Certainly, we didn’t do that great for 40 minutes, but we did it so well for 20. That’s obviously a good start.”

  Junior Forward Marcus Morris

On tonight’s performance:
“You’ve got to give Baylor a lot of credit. They gave us their “A” game. They have that long zone and we were working on it yesterday for a long time, just finding different ways to beat it because it’s very effective. The last couple of games we haven’t been really effective against the zone. We were just trying to come out and find open spots and our guards knocked down shots for us.”

On the team’s good ball movement:
“That’s the way you beat a zone, you move the ball and get it to the open guy. I thought everyone was moving the ball and no one was selfish. I think that we finished the game good.”

 Junior Center Markieff Morris

On the high number of NBA scouts in attendance:
“That doesn’t matter to me. I didn’t even know. I just gave it my best shot and we competed.”

On Baylor freshman Perry Jones III:
“He’s a freak athlete. He runs the floor very well. He’s tough inside as well. He has a great inside-out game. He can move really well and he can score in the post.”
