Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew: "I thought last year's Oklahoma State-Texas game was the best game in the Big 12 (history), but I'm biased and I think this one takes the cake. Texas A&M deserves a lot of credit. They didn't go deep in their rotation and still had the stamina to keep going. They put up a valiant effort. You didn't want to see anyone lose a game like this, but obviously I'm very proud of our team. I don't think you can come up with more of a team effort for us. We were running out of bodies and (BU assistant) coach (Jerome) Tang got excited next to me and said `can I go in if everybody fouls out.' I'm very pleased with the effort and the togetherness of the team. Rebounding was key coming in and we did a tremendous job."
Baylor Junior Guard Curtis Jerrells: "That was just two determined teams going out there and fighting and giving it everything they had. I lost count of the overtimes. This just shows the will and determination of this team. When we put our mind to it, no matter how long it takes, we're going to get it done. I'm tired but I'm not really that tired. Winning takes away a lot of that. We had a couple of key guys foul out and other guys stepped up.
Baylor Senior Guard Aaron Bruce: "We knew it was going to be an emotional time. We knew that the A&M rivalry exists and it's pretty heated. Our game plan was to take the emotion out of it and get to business. That's the character of our guys. I got asked how much longer I could have gone and the answer was `as long as it takes.'"
Texas A&M Head Coach Mark Turgeon: "I'll state the obvious: That was one hell of a basketball game. Those teams played really well. We played five overtimes and one team had 16 turnovers and the other had 14. I was really proud of our group. There were some gutsy performances by a lot of players. I thought we got much better today. We played one heck of a basketball team with some of the best guards I've ever seen. Jerrells is something else. Not only did he have 36 points, but he did a great job of guarding Josh (Carter) all night. I thought we had two overtimes won. Free throws cost us. I'm proud of our guys for gutting it up and getting us to overtime. I thought the officiating was outstanding. I thought we followed our game plan great. It was the best we've guarded in a long time. It was a heck of a team we had to guard out there. We're not very deep. I tried to play deep in the first half. They have five really good guards. They ran out of post players and they had to go little, then we had to go little. Bryan Davis was a warrior tonight. Some people were questioning our conditioning and toughness and our players answered that tonight. We played with tremendous toughness and had great conditioning. A five overtime game is just asking a lot when you're not as deep as you need to be. That's where our program is right now. "
Texas A&M Senior Guard Dominique Kirk: "Jerrells is a talented player. He goes to the hole pretty hard and can shoot the outside shot. We just tried to contain him and make the big guys beat us. He made some great plays. Coach told us to keep fighting. He was proud of our effort. We can be satisfied; we have to keep going. This is a long road that we've been down before. We just have to keep competing and keep fighting."
Texas A&M Sophomore Forward Bryan Davis: "It was a battle. Both teams competed. We went out there and fought hard. Baylor went out there and fought hard. We just came out on the short end of the stick. We're going to move forward and keep playing together, try to get better and learn from this."
