Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
"The one positive, because I'm a positive guy, is everyone who made baskets was assisted except for one. That's the good thing. The bad thing is you can't beat anyone shooting 29 percent, 23 in the second half. We've got to make shots. We made them against Oklahoma State. At the same time, our free throw percentage has gone up the last three or four games in a row. It's not where we want it, but at least it's moving in the right direction. We were in striking position, three possessions or four possessions until really the last five minutes. Kansas is a really good team."

On Andrew Wiggins' baskets...
"The one before half was actually a contested one. I thought Tharpe and Ellis were really the difference tonight in making sure we never got in striking distance."

On Kansas' defense...
"They've got size, and they've got length. Coach Self always does a great job stressing the defense and they always defend well. At the same time, you've got to make shots and I think there's some shots we could've made and didn't."

Senior G Brady Heslip

On what Kansas did defensively...
"They're just a really sound defensive team. They know their identity and they have some big guys down there who can really block shots. They're physical and they play great defense. They know their identity so they make it tougher for us. Credit to them for playing great defense, but we didn't hit enough shots tonight to win either."

On how Kansas was effective against him...
"They were just hedging out on screens and a couple times we just didn't execute right. I didn't get as many looks in the second half as I did in the first half and I missed those easy floaters that I usually make."

Sophomore F Rico Gathers

On rebounding being more difficult than last game against Kansas...
"I just feel like we were taking a lot more shots than they were taking in the first half. That's why they got such a big rebounding advantage. We were fouling a lot -that's another reason. But looking at it, we've just got to get more production on the boards."

On being 2-7 halfway through conference play...
"For sure we can get on a streak--there's no doubt. We are halfway through and that's definitely the tougher half of the conference. We're just taking it one game at a time and we're looking to have a big second half in this conference."

Head Coach Bill Self

On the difference between Andrew Wiggins the first half and the second half...
"Well we ran that play for him at the end of the first half to get him going. He obviously wasn't plugged in offensively in the first half. Zones tend to do that to him at times. Second half he was more aggressive and got to the free throw line. He made a couple of big shots. He made one big three when we had nothing going on. He was good, but Naadir (Tharpe) was great the whole game. Perry (Ellis) was tremendous and we really guarded in the second half. This was really more about defending and rebounding than it was about any offensive things."

On what they did against Brady Heslip in the second half...
"We didn't do anything different. We tried the first half. I really think that I was responsible for two or three of his first threes, because I told them to guard him wrong. After that we got underneath him and played underneath him rather than playing on top of him. We did a better job of playing underneath him. I thought Wayne (Seldon) and Frank (Mason) did a fabulous job on him, because he was definitely on fire to start the game."

On their defense and defensive rebounding tonight...
"There is that saying, `defense does travel.' It didn't travel to Austin. Certainly, we have got to grow up and understand that on the road it is not as much about us playing really well as much as it is about making your opponent play poorly. We didn't do anything on Saturday to make Texas play poorly. I thought we defended and rebounded and got more 50-50 balls and things like that to give us a better chance tonight."

Forward Perry Ellis

On the significance of Andrew Wiggins' shot to end the first half...
"It was big. It gave us big momentum to push through going into halftime. It even got him going and it was good to have him going. It was great that he knocked that down."

On the key to their defense...
"Just being aggressive. Coach is always telling us to be aggressive and have our head on a swivel, and that's what we did. We had a great effort defensively tonight."

Guard Naadir Tharpe

On how they bounced back from the loss against Texas...
"I felt like we played good. It started off on the defensive end. I thought everyone was getting after it. Today, you could see Perry was tremendous on the boards going after the ball. Everyone was just in tune the whole game."

On his offensive game tonight...
"I felt like there were opportunities for me to score the ball, so I was just trying to stay aggressive the whole game. Certain times we couldn't find anything. We couldn't get a basket or something like that so I just tried to get a shot up."
