FEB. 13, 2010 • ATTENDANCE: 9,347

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
On the game …

"One thing about the Big 12 is that you are going to get a lot of great games and you are going to get a lot of great endings. Some of them aren’t as good, like the finish at A&M. Some of them are good like this one. That is why coaches go bald. I think that fans can really cherish and appreciate this year in the Big 12 because you have so many good teams. We knew coming in that it was going to be a hard-fought game and a 40-minute game. We won it the way we wanted and that is rebounding and defending.”

On his 100th win …
"One thing that coaches know is that we don’t get any wins, it is always the players. Anything that we get win-total wise is a credit to them.”

On closing out the last two tight games …
“First of all, it talks about the leadership and the upperclassmen making sure that we don’t give up. In both games we are down in the last three minutes. Some teams fold and other teams persevere and fight back, and I think our leadership has allowed us to do that. I think our defense has allowed us down the stretch to get points.”

On Ekpe Udoh’s game-winning shot …
“I think the people that hit winning shots are going to miss some because they have the courage to take them. I know that Ekpe is one of those guys that doesn’t mind having a lot of pressure on him. He performs well under (pressure) and I think our guys look to him.”

Senior Guard Tweety Carter
On the play of Ekpe Udoh

"He is special. Throughout the game he didn’t score the ball like he wanted to, but he stayed with it and kept playing defense for us. You never know when the ball is going to be in your hands. For him, just staying with it the whole game and not getting frustrated and believing in his team — there is a lot you could say, but he is just that guy. He is that guy that is going to come out and play for 40 minutes no matter what.”

On the scoring drought late in the game …
"We stopped attacking. With a lead against a team like that, you want to slow (the game) down and get stops. I thought we got stops and made it hard for them to score a few times. I think they went on a little run with two minutes left. Like Ekpe said, just thank God that we came out with the win.”

On Scott Drew’s 100th win …
"That is the reason why I came here. I wanted to be a part of something special. This has been happening throughout my career and that is why I came here, to be a part of something this special.”

Junior Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On the final sequence of plays …

“I knew once they called the (flagrant foul) that they were calling it pretty close. So when I got the ball, Tweety pitched it up to me and I wanted to take it to the rim and make contact because nine times out of 10 they make that call.”

Junior Forward Ekpe Udoh
On the game-winning shot …

"In the waning minutes of the game, Kobe (Bryant), not Kobe, LaceDarius Dunn wants to take that (game winning shot). I took that theme. When the ball was coming off of the rim I knew I had a chance to tip it in. It was Kobe time. That was great to pull off that victory.”

On the importance of the win …
"It is huge. We are now 6-4 (in conference play) and 19-5 overall. That is huge, especially with six games left. Now we can go for 20 (wins) and beyond, something that hasn’t been done too often in Baylor history. We wanted this win to separate ourselves from Mizzou (in the conference standings).

Sophomore Forward Quincy Acy
On crashing the boards …

"That is what coach was emphasizing, rebounding. Coach Mills always tells me that I need to get rebounds so I just go out there and play hard and get as many rebounds as I can.”

Missouri Head coach Mike Anderson
On the game …

"(It was a) well-played game between two good teams, but we just came out on the short end of the stick. We put ourselves in position to have a chance to steal one on the road, and this would’ve been a great one to get, but it was all for naught. They make the play right at the end, they got about two tips, but we have no one to blame but ourselves, and I’ll take the blame on that. We just came up a little short, but it wasn’t because of effort and desire. I thought we got better, I really did.”

On his team attacking the rim …
“We’re an attacking team, and I thought that’s what we did. The soft spots in the zone were in the middle, and I thought we did a good job making a conscious effort of getting it to the right people at the right time to make plays.”

On containing Ekpe Udoh
“It’s amazing, you do that and you think you have a great chance of winning this game, but obviously he’s a good player. They made plays when they had to.”

Senior Guard J.T. Tiller
On the last play of the game …

"It was a lot of trees, really. Everybody was in there battling and trying to get that last tip. Unfortunately, we weren’t on the receiving end of it.”

On Baylor’s size …
"That’s why they are successful. They have those big guys in the front court in front of the basket. They do a good job of defending the rim.”

Senior Guard Zaire Taylor
On the game …

"Baylor runs the zone pretty well, they are a big team. They take advantage of their height. But coach had a game plan and we tried to attack the middle. We were pretty successful at times, and there were times when we did fall in love with the three. I think we were most successful when we attacked the rim.”

On the final minute …
"Coach told us to stick around and give ourselves a chance, and I think we did that well up to that point. Pretty much the whole game we stuck around, and that was our biggest sign that we could win the game. When we got that lead it was our first lead of the second half, and that’s the position we wanted to be in. We got the ball back with 45 seconds left, and even after we didn’t convert, we were still a position where we could win the game.”
