  Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement…
“No matter what you do in life, after you struggle, everyone’s going to face adversity, it’s really how you get up from it. We’ve had outstanding leadership this entire year, and I thought they did a great job getting us ready to play today. I thought the guys really responded and played well.”

On the offensive effort …
“Well the 24 assists, eight turnovers and shooting 72% [in] the second half was outstanding. I think the big thing though, our guys deserve a lot of credit because when we got back from Missouri instead of hanging their heads, a lot of them got rest, took care of their body, rehab, got here early, got shots up, got confidence and good things happened because of it.”

“I think, again, unselfish play, and with that you make shots and it makes everything go better. At the end of the day, the last two games we had some shots that we missed that today we made.”

On the chemistry of the team…
“I think the teammates really care for each other, they want to encourage each other like they do, and they want to support one another. It’s a lot easier to come back and have a bounce-back good game when you got people that got your back versus people saying ‘why is he playing’ or ‘why are you giving him so many shots’, so we’re all blessed to have good leadership by the team.”

On forcing White to turn over the ball…
“He’s a great player and we just tried to make things difficult tonight, and I thought we did a good job with that and that’s why he had so many turnovers. I think he’s one of the greatest players in the country, but a lot of people don’t know about him or haven’t seen him on T.V. as much.”

Sophomore Forward Perry Jones III

On building confidence during the first few minutes of the game…
“It was very important, but the coaching staff and my teammates kept me confident even if my shots weren’t falling the past couple of games. They still told me to shoot the ball and it ended up going in. I have to give them credit for keeping me confident.”

Freshman Forward Quincy Miller

On importance of winning this game…
“We definitely needed to bounce back. Our confidence was still up, but that was a very hard blow. We came out and got the win today so we’re back on track.”

Senior Forward Anthony Jones

On his own momentum…
“You have to bounce back as a player as much as possible, and me being a senior, I have to be up there and be a leader for the guys on the team.”

On the offensive effort…
“Against Missouri, we didn’t have a great offensive output like we normally have and in practice we had to get back to the way we were. [We had to] get in the gym, start making those shots that we’re supposed to make and that translated over to the game today.”

 Head Coach Fred Hoiberg

On his team’s defense tonight…
“Well we came out great and played great against Texas A&M on Saturday. As I told our guys, our defense has to be consistent. You have to defend every night to give yourself a chance to win. I don’t understand how we can defend as well as we did Saturday and come here and give that type of effort. We’re going to have to return home and get ready for Oklahoma on Friday.”

On defending an “on” Baylor team tonight…
“It’s hard to defend Baylor when their shots are on. Perry Jones starts off with a couple of big ones, and then (Anthony) Jones comes in from the bench and adds to that. You also let (Brady) Heslip hit one to get his confidence early. That’s what it was about. We gave up too many buckets when they were comfortable.”
