Notes
Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
"They did a good job on getting the ball inside and getting some easy ones...I don't think freshman walk-ons in the high major conferences are doing as much as those two (Mark Shepherd and Richard Hurd). The fight we are always fighting is freshman walk-ons versus McDonald's All-Americans, and that is always a tough fight."
On Baylor's lack of height...
"We've done our best, and all year long it's been our Achilles' heel. The good thing is that next year we will be a much better team. Every night Tim, Tommy, and Mark are giving a lot of pounds, a lot of experience, and they do a great job competing."
Aaron Bruce
"We shot a lot of threes tonight but the focus has been the last couple of games to get the ball to the basket. Tim's a strong guy and Tommy is an excellent finisher on the inside so we have been trying to get a lot more inside looks the last couple of games."
Tim Bush
"(Texas' Brad) Buckman is a workaholic. I watch a lot of film on Buckman because he does all the little things because whenever there's a big play, it's always Buckman."
Rick Barnes, Texas Head Coach
"You've got to certainly be impressed with Baylor. We came up here with a lot of respect for Baylor because we saw how hard they played us in Austin. We've watched enough of them to know they're going to fight and scrap for every possession. And they are the team that is not going to go away, and they did it again tonight."
On Kenny Taylor's play
"You can have a tremendous affect on a basketball game without making 3-point shots. You look at his line and he had seven assists, three turnovers. Kenny was terrific tonight. He really was and what I'm happy about most of all is the fact that I can tell him after the game that you didn't have a great shooting night but you made a tremendous effect on the game."
Brad Buckman
"Kenny played a great game tonight. Without him I don't think I would have had half my points tonight. He got everybody open. He got me and Jason, Syd and everybody else open. He was slashing and driving, and I owe it all to the man right next to me (
Kenny Taylor)."
Kenny Taylor
"We can't take a break right now. We have to go into Lubbock on Tuesday; we have a lot of goals that we want to achieve in postseason play. And in order to get to the postseason, we have to take it one game at time."
On Baylor...
" It feels good to come back and put a good effort on the court today. I know a lot of people probably booed today but that's what they are supposed to do. And a lot of people probably care about me and I thank those people for being good to me for the time I was here. They have a great basketball team and are going to have a great future."
