"We played well early and got the lead. We missed a couple of bad shots, and then things went downhill. Once we got down, it seemed to snowball. That's what happens when you've been losing, especially on the road. This was the first time all season that I was disappointed with our effort, especially in the fi rst 10 minutes of the second half."
Iowa State Head Coach Greg McDermott
"I'm really proud of the way the guys responded after not making a good start. We exploited a few things with the ball screens and defense, and were able to get baskets in the fi rst seven or eight possessions. We had a couple of turnovers, but I thought the shots were pretty good. The key to the game was the start of the second half."
"We've had some rough stretches in conference play, but I refuse to believe these guys are as poor shooters as the numbers would indicate. I know they're good shooters. I see it every day in practice. I'm lucky because I'm surrounded by a bunch of guys that stick with one another, and that's a big reason we got the win tonight. They continue to believe in each other."
Iowa State Forward Craig Brackins
"Baylor played tight defense on me and didn't want to let me drive the lane. It was a relief that some shots were falling. My teammates, especially Petey, made some awesome passes. I was a little tentative to shoot. Their defense threw me off, but I think I adjusted well to it."
Iowa State Guard Bryan Petersen
"I think in the last couple of games, we've shown that we can come back, go on a run and shoot the ball better. I love playing here
every game. Tonight was awesome, and a lot of fun. All of us were out there having a blast. But, we've got Texas A&M next. We're
still looking for that road win."
