BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew
On the game…

“It was a great atmosphere and a great game. It was a typical Baylor vs. Texas A&M game from the last couple of years. I am glad that every time these two teams play that it is on national television because I think this rivalry warrants that and people can see how great both programs are. I am very excited and very proud of our guys. We knew it would come down to winning the battle of the boards because down (in College Station) they had 10 more rebounds than us. Tonight we had seven more rebounds at the end of the game.”

On the importance of finishing in the top four of the Big 12 standings…
"I think every team realizes why (winning four games at the Big 12 Championship) is such a tall feat to ask. This is the best conference in the country for a reason. There are a lot of teams all bunched up together. It is going to come down to the last three games and will probably be decided on the last day of the season. I am very excited about that opportunity with these guys.”

Senior Guard Tweety Carter
On the importance of the win…

"This was big for us. We were looking to go 2-0 against this team but (in College Station) they outplayed us down the stretch and made big shots and big rebounds kind of like we did tonight. We protected our home floor tonight so I thought that was a big win for us tonight.”

Junior Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On his offensive game…

“I just wanted to come out and take good shots. Coach Drew always tells me that my first couple of looks ought to be good so the rest of the game will be a little bit more smooth for me.”

Senior Center Josh Lomers
On his performance…

"I just try to do everything that I can for my team. Tonight I had the opportunity and I took advantage of it.”

TEXAS A&M POSTGAME QUOTES

Head coach Mark Turgeon
On the game…

"It was a great game; a great college basketball game. You have got to give Baylor credit. I think Lace’s two threes were huge, especially his second one. After he set us back one again he hit another three. We couldn’t get rebounds. They were plus seven on the boards, which was a big difference in the game. We played great defense that last possession and the ball bounced their way, bounced long. We had inside position, but it bounced to (Ekpe) Udoh and Udoh had it down so we had to foul. We were right there, just could not get the stop and rebound and give ourselves the chance to win it. We got a good look, and we will take that against a zone.

On coming back from two double digit deficits…
“I was really proud of our effort. I thought at times we did not play very well and I thought Baylor had a lot to do with that. We shot 36 percent on the road. We were one stop away from a chance to win it. We play with effort. The guys do what I ask them to do. We believe in each other, we just could not get it done tonight. I was very proud of their effort, I really was. I thought we could have rebounded a little better. I thought they were a little more physical than we were tonight at times. Sometimes that happens on the road, it can be hard to play physical. But I was proud of my group.”

On foul trouble…
“It was a big part of it. (David) Loubeau has been a big player for us. He has had a good year, but he did not play a lot. I had to play freshmen a lot. I thought Ray did great. It hurts a little bit. We have got a deep team; I am not afraid to play guys. Right when I put him back in, he picked up his fifth so I am a little disappointed. That did not hurt us as much as our rebounding and our execution against their zone was not that great most of the night.”

Senior Guard Donald Sloan
On the physical nature of the game…

"It is probably one of the most physical games that we know we have on our schedule all year, against Baylor. It is going to be tough. It is going to be scrappy. We knew it was going to be a good game. We already knew that coming in.”

Senior Forward Bryan Davis
On the inside matchups…

"It was a battle down there, not just with (Josh) Lomers but with Udoh and (Quincy) Acy too. Every time we play them they give us a battle down there.”
