NCAA Tournament 1st Round (11) Baylor 79 ¨C (6) Purdue 90 ¡ö March 20, 2008 Verizon Center (Washington, D.C.) BAYLOR POSTGAME NOTES Team Notes Baylor is now 3-7 all-time in the NCAA Tournament. Baylor¡¯s 79 points is the most for a BU team in the NCAA Tournament. The Bears move to 1-2 vs. Purdue and 2-6 vs. current members of the Big Ten Conference. BU is now 3-3 this season in neutral site games and 9-7 away from home (6-4 road, 3-3 neutral) Baylor has given up 46+ points in one half three other times this year (50 at South Carolina 1st half [W], 64 at Kansas 2nd half [L], 49 vs. Missouri 1st half [W]). The Bears scored 27 points in the 1st half vs. Purdue. BU has scored less than that only 3 other times (vs. Winthrop, 24 1st half [W], vs. Washington St., 26 2nd half [L], vs. TAMU, 21, 1st half [L]). Individual Notes Junior Curtis Jerrells¡¯ 27 points breaks the record for points scored for a Baylor player in the NCAA Tournament (22 Darryl Middleton). Jerrells dished out a career high tying and BU NCAA Tournament modern era record 8 assists. Jerrells has scored at least 19 points in every postseason game of his career ( Big 12 [4 games] and NCAA Tournament [1 game]). Jerrells made a perfect 9-of-9 shots from the free throw stripe, the best percentage performance of his career. With four 3-pointers, Jerrells moved into sole possession of 6th place on Baylor¡¯s all-time 3-pointers made list (141). Senior Aaron Bruce failed to score for the second consecutive game and only the fifth time in his career. Bruce ends his career 7th on Baylor¡¯s all-time scoring list (1,330 points).
