| Head Coach Scott Drew
"Well the good thing about playing your exhibition is that you can get all your jitters out and find out what you're doing for your pregame routine. As far as from a coaching standpoint, it's going to give us a lot of film to break down and see what areas we need to get better in. Obviously, we haven't had many practices, so we have got a long ways to go. We liked what we saw from the new players, and I think the returning players have improved, so we have some things to build on."
On Baylor's defense during the game...
"I think we were so over-anxious early in the game. You get out of position when you over-play everything and rush everything and credit Abilene Christian. They hit some shots too, but definitely defensively we have a long way to go. I also didn't like what we saw from our man-to-man defense, but there was some good teaching points and we will use them to improve in some areas, giving up 75 points is a lot to give up."
On the high amount of turnovers...
"The 25 assists were good, but the 19 turnovers were not so good. If you're playing more guards you have to be closer to that 2:1 assist to turnover ratio rather than a 1:1. That will be an area we will focus on."
|Junior Guard Brady Heslip|
On his shooting during the game...
"The guys set some good screens and made some good passes and they were wide open shots; ones I practice every day."
On playing a real game after just practicing...
"Yeah, like I said the other day, now we can finally take it out on somebody else. We didn't get off to a fast start or jump on them like we wanted to defensively, but we were happy to just be playing somebody else."
|Freshman Center Isaiah Austin|
On playing his first collegiate game...
"I had pregame jitters. I think every freshman does coming out for their first college game, but I fought through it and played pretty decent."
On the defense getting better after the first 10-15 minutes...
"Yeah, we started clicking a little better. We started talking more. We started playing with our hands a little more. We have to work on our closeouts a little more, but other than that I thought we played pretty well."
| Freshman Forward Rico Gathers
On his style of play...
"I just try to make sure that I'm doing what the coaches ask me to do. Coach told me before the game to attack the offensive board, so that's what I did."
On getting adjusted to college ball...
"Of course, because it was my first game, it was a new experience for me. When you see the same faces every day at practice you get used to their tendencies and stuff, but when you see a new team they play you a whole lot different. It was definitely an adjustment at the beginning."
