16/14 BAYLOR 87, GRAMBLING STATE 52 - Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)
Friday, November 12, 2010 Attendance: 7,242

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement:
"I thought that a couple things jumped out that we have improved. I thought defensively when you hold a team to 29 percent defensive field-goal percentage, that is outstanding. When you outrebound them 52-34, that is very good and then the turnovers, obviously that is a big area we have to continue to work on. You look at the freshmen, we had 13 turnovers from the freshmen, but at the same time they had 10 assists. We like the assists, we need to cut down on the turnovers and good things will happen for the future."

On starting fast:
"I think the crowd really deserves a lot of that credit. When the banner was dropped and just the energy level; (it was) a tremendous crowd for a late night game, so we thank everyone for the support and that is a direct reason why we got off to a great start."

On Perry Jones III's play:
"Perry did a lot of good things. The good thing with Perry is he so anxious to learn, wants to get better and so fun to coach. Each game I think he will get better and better and I think each game he will show more of what he is capable of doing."

Junior Forward Quincy Acy
On getting off to a quick start:
"That was the goal all week after the exhibition game. Coach (Scott) Drew was like, "We came out slow." The practices were more revved up. (Coach Drew) was like, "We've got to get ready." We did a great job. Everybody came out focused and playing together. It was fun."

On Baylor's size advantage:
"Last year we had Josh (Lomers) and Ekpe (Udoh), bigger guys. This year we've got a lot of long, lean and athletic guys. In practice there is somebody getting dunked on every day. When you go to the game it's fun to do it to other people. That's a big advantage for us because in the zone we've got a lot of long and athletic guys trying to get deflections and stuff. It's fun."

Junior Forward Anthony Jones
On moving the ball well early in the game:
"We just wanted to pick up the slack with Stargell (Love) starting at point. He is a freshman and it was tough on him. We just told him to go out there and be calm. We've got leaders out there to help."

On freshman Forward Perry Jones III playing more relaxed:
"In the exhibition he was a little tense out there. After the exhibition we just told him to calm down and play his game and everything would come to him. You saw tonight that everything just flowed his way."
