12/12 BAYLOR 92, JACKSON STATE 59
Sun., Nov. 13, 2011
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)
Attendance: 6,103

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement…
“I think to start out with, we had a lot of positives. The big thing you look at is defensively we were very good, especially the second half. As far as our assist-to-turnover ratio, we did a much better job taking care of the ball. And Brady (Heslip), A.J. (Walton) and Pierre (Jackson), 11 to 2 assists-to-turnovers is very good. And then the last thing is we shot free throws very well, 81 percent. And that was good to see. I think we made some progress from the first game and now we’ll get a good test come Tuesday to see exactly where we’re at.”

On the ball movement…
“I thought a we had a lot of unselfish play and extra passes, and because of that, it led to some easy shots and some easy shot attempts. I know Brady’s capable of really getting on a roll and he’s gotten some good looks. As long as we keep getting players good looks, good things will happen. Quincy Miller spent a lot of time on his shot, and I think it showed. So I’m happy with that.”

On getting six players to hit at least on three…
“That’s good. When you can shoot 44 percent from 3, that’s big, and especially when teams zone us. The first two games, we faced primarily all zone. And you want to be able to take advantage of that.”

Sophomore F Cory Jefferson
On his role on the team…
“The main thing I focus on is rebounds and energy. I just try to help the team out with that.”

Junior Forward Quincy Acy
On the team improving from their first game…
“I think we played a lot better. Coach was really mad about our first half last game so we came out better the first half of this game. I think we executed well.”

On the team being able to find players with open shots…
“We shared the ball a lot and were able to keep the defense rotating and got a lot of good open shots.”

Freshman G Quincy Miller
On his confidence level after playing his first game …
“My coaches told me to just be confident from the start. They just told me to come out and shoot the ball, and that is what I did.”

On hitting his first three of the game…
“It felt great. My coach just told me to keep shooting it, and in the first half it wasn’t falling as much, but in the second half it did and I just kept shooting.”
