Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
"I think any time you can hold a well-coached team to 34 percent shooting, you're happy with that. When you shoot 59 percent, you're happy with that. We did out-rebound them, the bench was effective -- so a lot of positives but also a lot of areas we can keep getting better in. The most important thing is that we keep teaching after wins not losses."

On Kenny Chery's performance...
"Kenny played a tremendous game. You're not going to find a better defensive player than [Elfrid] Payton. He's unbelievable, he's all over the court. Kenny did a great job, especially with him guarding him. Since Day One that he got here, he's been very diligent, very coachable, and not tried to do too much. He's a great teammate."

On the team's defense...
"We know how important defense is. I think so far so good. We can get better, but so far so good."

Senior G Brady Heslip

On driving to the basket more often...
"I was doing that a lot with the national team, and the big thing was that I was getting to the free throw line. The first two games they were giving me threes, and I'll take threes. Today, they were playing me real tight and I couldn't get loose so I got into the lane a little bit."

On the zone helping slow down Elfrid Payton...
"That's why we started in the zone, because he is the main weapon for them. The whole key to the game was to keep him out of the paint because when he gets in the paint, he was kicking it out for open shots or finishing. We knew he was their motor so our whole focus was to keep him out of the paint. I think the zone did that especially well in the first half and we let him get in there a bit in the second half but we did a pretty good job."

Sophomore C Isaiah Austin

On his eight blocks...
"I was just trying to play up tall. Coach [Scott Drew] was telling me that on a lot of my blocked shots I've been swiping down so they told me to play upright and I did that tonight."

On if it's tougher to get blocks with the new rules...
"Sometimes, but when we're sitting in our zone like that, it's much easier for me so I have to stay active."

Junior G Kenny Chery

On his comfort level on the court...
"I'm really feeling more comfortable. The first two games it was really about adjusting to the team, the new level. I'm just going to keep working and adjusting to Cory [Jefferson], Isaiah [Austin], Brady [Heslip] and all these guys I'm playing with. There are so many weapons."

On the guards getting into the paint...
"The scouting report was that they gambled a lot. The plan was to get in the paint and get other guys touches or finish around the rim and try to get them in foul trouble."

Head Coach Bob Marlin

Opening Statement...
"We had a travel day yesterday and a tough-fought game on Friday night against Arkansas. We played well then and were actually in control of the game for about 36 minutes and let it go at the end. The score was a little bit misleading kind of like this score might be. We traveled yesterday and Baylor looked like the fresher team today. They looked like they have been off for a few days and that they had their legs under them. They played well. I felt Kenny Chery had a really good game. I don't know if he can play better. Brady [Heslip] played well, I told him at the end of the game in the line that he does a nice job of playing in the pace of the game and not rushing it. We helped him by letting him drive to the basket and letting him lay a few in, but he did a nice job. Baylor made their free throws tonight, too, and they got plenty. We didn't get any in the first half and we go on to lose the free throw game by 22 attempts and 14 points. We have got to do a better job of getting the ball to the free throw line."

On the foul trouble early in the game...
"It effects Shawn [Long] for sure because he is a really good player. I think he is the best inside guy out on the floor that was out there and I think Baylor has a couple of good ones. He is a really talented young man and he got frustrated a little bit today. We felt like he was trying to block shots and just not getting the calls. It does affect your team to a certain point because we know we have got to have him in the game if we are going to have a chance to win a game like this."

On the length of Baylor's team...
"The length did affect our guys. Shawn [Long] was rushing shots early and then he slowed down and was able to get some in the basket. We told our guards that if they penetrate and get inside that they are going to block it. We told them they had to shoot the mid-range jump shot floater. Chery is not very big and that is going to be an issue for them down the road possibly. They had 12 blocks, so we played right into their hands."
