Bears Advance to Paradise Jam Final in 68-64 Win vs Notre Dame

CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- Curtis Jerrells scored 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Baylor beat Notre Dame 68-64 on Sunday night. Jerrells scored 15 points in the second half as the Bears (3-0) advanced to face Winthrop on Monday for the championship of the Paradise Jam. Baylor took its first lead on a 3-pointer by Jerrells that capped a 9-2 run and put the Bears ahead 61-60 with 3:10 to play. After the Fighting Irish tied it at 62, LaceDarius Dunn helped secure the victory by hitting a 3-pointer from the corner with less than 40 seconds remaining. Aaron Bruce added 14 points for the Bears. Notre Dame (2-1) took its largest lead on a driving layup by Luke Harangody that put the Irish ahead 30-18 with 5:25 to go in the first half. But Baylor rallied to cut the deficit to 38-32 at halftime. Harangody had a game-high 22 points, including two layups during an 8-0 run in the second half that put Notre Dame ahead 54-44. Rob Kurz added 13 points. Notre Dame scored 19 points off 15 Baylor turnovers, but shot only 29 percent from the floor in the second half. Baylor shot 41 percent.
