BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES
Head Coach Scott Drew
"Well if we talk about the positives, you got every line except for one, so we will talk about all of the positives for now. Four-for-eight from threes, outstanding. Twenty three-for-twenty five from the free throw line is tremendous. Outrebounding your opponent 32-15 is very good. Defensively we held them at 32 for a six or seven minute span, which was outstanding. Obviously, turnovers is an area where we will have to get better in. Yes we are working on that in practice. Yes the players know that, but I know No. 24 9LaceDarius Dunn will help with that too. It is good to have him back."
On the high number of turnovers:
"Every team is different. This team can be very good defensively and very good rebounding wise. We will just have to keep working on the areas we are not so good, but at the same time very pleased with the free throws. I mean 23 out of 25 is outstanding."
On Perry Jones III:
"He looked a lot more comfortable, a lot more at ease out there. He had a nice rhythm going and I know Perry is going to continue to get better and better in other facets of the game such as his passing, but I am very pleased with his performance tonight."
Sophomore Guard A.J. Walton
On overcoming the turnovers:
"We have been working on it every day in practice, with so many drills Coach Drew just comes up with. But we are still pretty young, still trying to get used to playing with each other and as the season progresses we are going to cut them down."
On Perry Jones III:
"What can I say, the stats show who he is and what he is about. He is a great player even as a freshman. He is growing up quickly. He is an amazing player. I love playing with him."
Freshman Guard Perry Jones III
On his confidence:
"Coach Drew just tells me that I am looking better, but he just wants me to be more aggressive each time. He tells me every day in practice, before the game. He tells me be aggressive, stay focused, stay humbled."
On being the offensive threat tonight:
"I think it is good that other people can step up. I think that causes a lot of problems for the opposing team, because they just can't stick to one or two guys. It is multiple guys that can actually score the ball and I think that is going to be an advantage for us."
JACKSON STATE POSTGAME QUOTES
Head Coach Tevester Anderson
"This is the third game we've played and I have a vote in the Top 25 USA Today. I voted (Baylor) in the top 10. I think they're a top-10 team, a lot of weapons out there. I just like the way they play. I like the way they shoot the ball and they're a good defensive team as well. Their zone play is really good and they have a pretty good press. They are well coached and I thought they shot the ball from the free throw line really, really well. They can make free throws. It was 23 out of 25, that's almost unheard of. That shows a lot of mental toughness that you can make free throws like that. I also thought that our guys played hard. We are undermanned right now. One of our better players played just a little bit tonight and our shooters didn't shoot the ball well tonight. (Baylor) had something to do with that, though. They have a good defense."
On Jackson State's defensive performance:
"We had a couple of good practices this week out here. We just came from Central Florida and didn't play well at all. I thought when we got out here we really worked on defense because our defense was not tough enough and was not physical enough. I thought we played much better defensively tonight and we forced some turnovers. We need to make some baskets in transition. We didn't make any baskets in transition off of those turnovers. At least we kept them from getting a shot at the basket."
On freshman forward, Perry Jones III:
"He's unbelievable. Just to think about, they've got two guys coming in just like him almost. They're good. They're going to be good for a long time."
