BAYLOR POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
"No coach likes an ending when we let the game get that close, and we obviously did not take care of the ball and finish well. The good thing is that you are going to have close games through the year, and you always want to win close games. It's great for us to be in that situation, and now we will be able to teach how to handle that situation."

On the game plan...
"[Charleston Southern's] defense is different -- we were able to get it inside -- and wanted to get it inside more than we did. When we got it inside we were effective for the most part, but we will continue to get better on the offensive end."

On the play of the two transfers Kenny Chery and Royce O'Neale...
"I think they have both played outstanding this early in the season. Both of them have been sound with the basketball for the most part. I think Kenny has had one turnover in two games this season, and that is really, really good."

On the tournament in Maui...
"I think it is one of the bucket list things. People grow up in basketball, and that is one of the most, if not the most, prestigious event to get in to. We are really excited to get there, and I know the fans have great turnouts for the teams that go there, so it makes the gym small and packed. I think it will be an exciting environment."

Senior G Gary Franklin

On the game...
"I think having games like this helps you mature a little bit, especially going into conference play in the Big 12. It helps you mature for those situations. Obviously, we would like every game to be a blow out all the way to the national championship. But you cannot have them like that all the time, so tonight was a good test for us."

On how the team is built...
"I have been asked on what I think our strength is and I feel like it is our depth. Having three games back-to-back, I am not worried at all. Guys will have their nights where they are shooting well and playing well, but the thing about our team is that we can sub and not drop off."

Sophomore C Isaiah Austin

On his play...
"My play has been inconsistent for my team. It is a point of emphasis for me to play better because they give it their all every night, so I am going to step it up my game for them."

On the tournament in Maui...
"I am very excited. There is a lot of talent out there. It is going to be a fun experience."

Senior F Cory Jefferson

On defending Charleston Southern...
"It was a little difficult because [Saah Nimley] was quick. Coach [Scott Drew] just told us to make sure we stay down, and be there to contest whenever he goes up for a shot."

CHARLESTON SOUTHERN POSTGAME QUOTES

Head Coach Barclay Radebaugh

Opening Statement...
"Congratulations to Baylor. They're a very well-coached team and their length really bothered us. They have really good players. I thought their game plan was terrific--to attack us inside and stay out on our shooters and to make us score over them was very difficult today. I thought we played much better in the second half, particularly in the last 10 minutes. I thought we really competed a lot harder and really were a lot more efficient the last 10 minutes."

On success on hitting threes...
"Our game plan was to play inside-out. I'm sure you saw it a lot tonight. We're not a post-oriented team; we're more of a perimeter-oriented team. We wanted to dribble in, keep our dribble alive and pitch out and our guys executed that very well for the most part. We probably tried to attack Isaiah [Austin] a time or two too many, but that's a natural instinct."

On series where score was cut to three points...
"It was actually really good execution. We got just what we wanted. We wanted to isolate Will [Saunders] because we had been really hot and we wanted to isolate him and Saah [Nimley]. Saah is a terrific three-point shooter. Our execution was just what we work on. Any of these guys are great shooters and that's really how we've built our program."

On Baylor containing Saah Nimley...
"He's not going to have a 24-point, 12-assist game every night. He played great at New Mexico and he still did a pretty good job tonight. It's just tough in there. We don't see that size too many times a year. Baylor, New Mexico, Florida State, and Alabama--we'll see that size and size affects us. Saah's got great heart and plays courageously. Pound-for-pound, statistically, I think he's the best point guard in the country."

Senior G Sheldon Strickland

On resiliency near the end of the game...
"Coach [Barclay Radebaugh] told us to start executing and to start moving the ball a little bit more. The way our offense is set up, usually when we move the ball back and forth, things will happen. Things will come to us. Fortunately, we were able to do that."
