Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
On the game...
"The biggest thing that we wanted to do was to make sure that we were sharp today and to make sure that we were preparing for the rest of the week because we have a big week ahead of us in the Old Spice Tournament. I think the starters really came out and set a tone and did a good job of getting us a lead. We played good defense, rebounded and took care of the ball. We got a chance to play the freshmen a lot of minutes and allowed them to work through some mistakes, work through some nerves and to get a chance to see what it is like to get some extended play. I was pleased how they finished up with nine-straight defensive stops."
On the free-throw shooting...
"Free-throw shooting was (one of the things) that we needed to work on and we didn't get that to where we needed it to get to. Free throw shooting is an area that we have got to get better at and we know that. Other than that, taking care of the ball, rebounding and the defensive end was very good."
On the Old Spice Classic...
"I think we will know a lot more about our team after this weekend. I think it is a great opportunity playing so many NCAA Tournament-type teams. We are going to be a better team at the end of the year than we are at the beginning of the year. I think this will give us a measuring stick of what areas we need to improve on to reach our goals at the end of the year."
Baylor Junior Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On outscoring Hardin-Simmons when he was in the game...
"I did not realize that. I think we came out and did a great job of executing, preparing for what we are about to do; three games in four days. I think we came out and played. We weren't trying to come out and do anything spectacular. We just came out here and did what we had to do."
On being prepared to play in the Old Spice Classic...
"We are doing a great job of just staying focused and getting ready to go down there and play. Three games in four days, we did it already, so I think our bodies will be adjusted to it. I think we are prepared."
Baylor Junior Forward Ekpe Udoh
On the game...
"This was just a preparation game for what we have on Thursday. We wanted to sharpen up on some things to prepare for Thursday. Except for the free throws, we did what we needed to do."
On the play of the freshmen...
"They are always complaining about getting in the game, so when they get in we try to give them some energy to go off of. They started off rough, but towards the end they put it together."
