12/13 BAYLOR 72, LIPSCOMB 60  Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)
Monday, November 22, 2010  Attendance: 6,453

Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement:
"I have no voice because I’ve been sick with a cold, but I could have been screaming for (LaceDarius Dunn’s) three-pointers, too. First, I want to thank the crowd for the big ovation they gave Lace. The second thing is that I think people forgot how quickly he can score. You realized and remembered very quickly in the second half. That’s why he’s an All-American. I think he showed how he’s improved his overall game. He had some nice passes that played well off the bounce. I thought he had some fatigue turnovers, and that’s just not used to being in game shape and coach not resting him as much as I probably should have. I am very pleased with the team’s execution. This is a very good Lipscomb team. A team that I feel has a good chance to be in the NCAA tournament and one of those teams that can beat somebody in the first round. I knew it was going to be close the whole way. To be able to get out to a lead like we did and never really let them threaten is very good.”

On LaceDarius Dunn creating more continuity with the offense:
“It helps when someone scores 24 points on 13 shots.”

On creating a new game plan with LaceDarius Dunn being back:
“I was still very concerned with this game because we haven’t had a lot of chances with him and the guys that are playing in-game minutes and because we’ve been trying to win the other games. I know we’re going to get a lot more cohesive, but you can see how just having him on the floor benefited everybody. At one point I know A.J. Walton had six assists and one turnover. Perry (Jones III) didn’t have a dominant game by any stretch of the imagination but we were still up 20 (points.) Without Lace, you can’t do that. Obviously he takes pressure off everybody else.”

Senior Guard LaceDarius Dunn
On what it meant to finally get back on the court:
"It meant a lot. Like I just told some of my teammates, the suit felt good but the jersey feels a whole lot better. It’s good to get back out there with my teammates and my family and just out there having fun. It meant a lot to get back out there with those guys. Fortunately I was able to practice, but it’s nothing like being in a live game on the court. It’s awesome to be back. I thank the fans for supporting me.”

On his shooting performance:
"I missed a couple that I didn’t want to miss. I give credit to my teammates moving the ball around and finding me in the zone.”

Junior Forward Quincy Acy
On the importance of getting LaceDarius Dunn back:
"It’s a wonder playing with him. He opens up so much stuff for everybody else. When he gets hot it makes you feel like you’re hot. You want to get him good shots. It felt good to have him back out on the court.”

On recording a double-double:
"I was trying to get 20 (points) and 15 (rebounds.) My teammates were just pushing me and telling me to get more. They never get satisfied with me. They want me to succeed just as much as I want them to. It’s fun to know people have your back like that. Whenever they push me, I’ve got to go them, so that’s what I was doing.”

Head Coach Scott Sanderson
On LaceDarius Dunn:
"He is as good as advertised. I wish he wasn’t there. I wish he had been suspended one more game. He is awful good. We knew he was good. Obviously, he makes a huge difference for their team. He is a veteran guard and he can score. He can pass and they feed off of him. He kind of gave us that knockout punch early in the second half.”

On the game:
“The four or five major keys in this game we had to try to accomplish, easier said than done. One was try to stay even with them on the backboard. We are out-rebounding opponents by 12 a game, but we hadn’t played that type of length. North Carolina had length, but not that much length and they out-rebounded us by 12. I wasn’t worried about their first shots as much as I was their second shots and their dunks and stick backs and that type of stuff. It is hard to keep those guys off the backboard. We had to play a lot of zone because we didn’t really match up with them size-wise. When you play zones, you don’t box out near as well as you do in man to man.”

On why it took so long for them to get into the game:
“Not taking anything away from Baylor. I told our team they are a very good basketball team. I didn’t think we played very well tonight. We had some shots, some open shots, especially in the first half that we normally make that we didn’t, and I am sure their length had a lot to with it. I didn’t think we played particularly well, not taking anything away from them, because they are a very good team, especially Dunn, obviously.”
