Head Coach Scott Drew
Opening Statement…
“I was very disappointed in how we rebounded. I thought after we spent a week on it, I thought we would be better at it. Basically we gave up our averages as far as percentages. The good thing is, defensively we did very well, especially in the second half when we didn’t give them second chance points. That is how you open a game with a 19-0 run and they were stuck on one point for a long time. Then the next group came in and kept them on one point for a long time. A lot of good things right there.” On Anthony Jones’ performance…
“The only thing is that he only had three rebounds. We would like to have that up to nine or 10, but we would give away six or eight point to get that rebounding number up. Other than that I thought the five steals was tremendous and the 5-for-8 shooting was good. He had a lot of high percentage shots.”

On playing a game tomorrow night…
“It is a good challenge for us. UTA played tonight, they had a 97-64 win over North Texas who is a good team. UTA is undefeated so they will be excited to play and I know it will be a good game. It is a big game for us. You always want to have a good game before the break.”

Junior Guard AJ Walton
On his defensive presence …
“We all just buy in to what coach Drew is telling us, defense will win championships. We all just locked down and try to get them to turn over the ball. I pride myself on defense. I feel like on that end of the floor is where I help my team the most.”

On the offense…
“We have great shooters. (Anthony Jones), Brady Heslip, when they call fire that is my job. Just continue to get them the ball.”

Senior Forward Quincy Acy
On playing back to back nights…
“We have got to come out better than we did today. I think this game will help us to come out better prepared than we were today because we did not like that feeling we felt at halftime.”

On the first half …
“It was just slow and sluggish. We have to work on that as a team. Whenever it is like that we have to do something or find something to find a spark. Anthony Jones came out and had the buckets, but it starts on defense and rebounds. They set the tone early with their rebounds.”

Senior Guard Anthony Jones
On his performance tonight …
“We needed a spark. We came out and weren’t hitting shots and looking sluggish, and I just had to the spark for the team.”

On the start of the second half…
“Well at halftime I was kind of down on myself and we thought it was important to come out and play our basketball. Just to come out and start it by hitting two 3’s and then have Brady (Heslip) hit two 3’s of his own, it was important.”
