Wed., Nov. 23, 2011 - Attendance: 5,988
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)

  Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
“Well the good thing is for Thanksgiving, we continued to defend well, holding them to 35 percent, but now we added the rebounding part in there. We outrebounded them 39 to 33. This was a team that coming in was second in the nation in rebounds and sixth in offensive rebounds. I thought we really rose to the challenge and I thought we got better there. The assists-to-turnovers, the good thing about that is that we have something to work on. I was really pleased because this was a good team, it is a well coached team and they are playing good basketball coming off back to back wins. When you go on a 44-3 run against North Texas, that is saying something.”

On the improved rebounding numbers…
“The big this is, I think once everyone realizes that we have to get better in that area, it is easier to want to get better. I think after last game it became a consensus that everyone realized that we had to get better in this area. To beat a good team you have got to do more than just defend and rebounding was important tonight. They play a pressure defense and cause a lot of turnovers. For the most part we handled it well. We have got to do a lot better. Even in the Big 12, they pressure and trap the ball as well as anybody, very similar to what Missouri used to do in the past.”

On Quincy Miller’s performance…
“He does such a good job at drawing contact, and when he gets to the free throw line he is a good shooter, but he rebounded tonight. The other thing is he is a good passer and he had a six-to-three assist to turnover ratio. That is something we want to see out of him more often because he is capable. That just makes our team that much more dangerous, when you have someone who can do that. Hopefully that will continue.”

  Sophomore Post Cory Jefferson

On his game tonight …
“I feel like I played a whole lot better than my last game. I had to come back in and shake it off ad that is what the coaches were telling me and my teammates.”

On being able to practice with talented post players everyday…
“It just helps being able to play with them every day. Acy always pushes me, BoBo (Jamison Morgan), Perry (Jones), Miller, we always push each other in practice so in the game it just pays off that much more.”

 Senior Forward Quincy Acy

On the improved rebounding…
“It sounds like a broken record. We keep getting outrebounded and there is no excuse for that. We really focused on that tonight and took it personal as far as boxing people out and going to get rebounds.”

 On Quincy Miller’s game…
"When I left yesterday, I asked him where he was going and he said to the practice gym to work on his game. That says a lot about the young fellow. You can’t coach that. He came out with this performance and that says a lot about how much he loves the team.”

 Freshman Forward Quincy Miller

On his presence in the post…
“I was just getting to the line because they kept fouling me and fouling me. So that is what I did. Coach was showing us film on what I should do to rebound better, and I just took that in and I came out and hit people first, and then rebounded.”

  Head Coach Scott Cross

On rebounding…
“I was hoping our guys would be more aggressive rebounding. Baylor has length and athleticism, and on top of that, they do a good job blocking out and going and getting it. That was one area I was hoping we would do a better job in, unfortunately we didn’t. We are facing a very talented team that is long and well-coached.”

 On Baylor playing zone…
“I think it was great to face someone where we can run our zone offense. We aren’t going to see a zone like this all year long. I thought we did some good shots at times, but we did take some bad ones. It’s a learning experience for our guys. I think it is a compliment to our guys that they played a zone for 40 minutes. I think that says a lot about our team as well; that we have a great team and are pretty good against man-to-man defenses.”
