BAYLOR (5-1) 72, IONA (3-2) 62
MILK HOUSE • LAKE BUENA VISTA, FLA.
NOV. 27, 2009 • ATTENDANCE: 1,915

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement...
“At the end of the day, rebounding worked for us. Anthony Jones was huge with a double-double, and Ekpe Udoh with 13 (points) and 11 (rebounds). The big thing is you’re shooting might not always be there but the offensive rebounding should always be there, and that’s what we’ve been able to get.”

On Baylor's size advantage...
“We had the size advantage but that doesn’t always mean you can take advantage of it. (Thursday) night Iona had more points in the paint, more second-chance points than Florida State. Tonight, 17 second-chance points for Baylor, two for Iona – we did a very good job crashing the boards. That was something that’s become a staple for this team, and when we don’t shoot it well, we have to be able to continue to do that.”

On playing in the consolation bracket...
“Everybody after a loss wants to play a game because you want to get that taste out of your mouth. These are great games – every one of these games should go down to the wire. There are different styles of play and great coaches here. It prepares you for the NCAA Tournament, it prepares you for postseason, it prepares you for what you’re going to see down the road.”

On Baylor's zone defense...
“The zone that we went to, we tried to tweak it and do some different things with it, and I think that was effective, but credit Iona – they hit a lot of shots tonight, 42 percent from 3. But they hit some big ones, so we had to go man.”

On relying on points on the inside...
“I think all year long we’ve had a bigger front line, a more athletic front line than we’ve had (before). So it’s taking us some time to get used to getting that ball inside and then working with it in there. But that’s something that we definitely want to do, keep that ball going inside.”

On Anthony Jones’ performance...
“He’s had performances like today in practice. He hasn’t really had a game like this where it all went together, but this was something that we expected and we hope to get a lot more of.”

On LaceDarius Dunn’s performance...
“He normally comes up big before the OT, but tonight he really did some great things when he wasn’t shooting it well – three assists/one turnover was good, five rebounds was good. He really came up big in the overtime.”
