Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew
On beating No. 14 Arizona State...
"Anytime you beat a coach Sendek team, you know you are beating a very well coached team. They showed a lot of heart down the stretch. It almost gave me a heart attack with all of those [3-pt field goals] they were making. I'm proud [of the way] we made our free throws down the stretch and I'm proud of our effort tonight."
On his team's clutch shooting...
"They do a tremendous job of contesting shots. You don't get many good looks. We are very fortunate to have good players and I think the second half we made good passes. Players make plays."
On Arizona State's zone offense...
"That zone is hard to prepare for in one day, but we have great players."
Baylor Guard Curtis Jerrells
On Baylor's clutch performance...
"As a guard, you have to realize who is making shots and who isn't and LaceDarius was hot. We are a good team and like to share the ball, that's why we are so successful against that zone. We can make the extra pass and find the extra player. When you get warm like that it's easy. The big guys came up and set screens for us, giving the lane, making others help and kicking. We are a great three-point shooting team and we knocked down those shots."
On not being ranked...
"As a competitor, I'd be lying if I didn't say I would want to be (ranked), but we have to understand that we can only take care of what we can take care of and that's winning games. It makes us hungry when we go out to play and we have shown that here in this tournament."
Arizona State Head Coach Herb Sendek
On his team's overall performance vs. Baylor...
"We made some shots in desperation to try in getting a closer margin. We give Baylor a bulk of the credit for really taking is to us in the second half."
On Baylor's play in the second half...
"Baylor was much more aggressive in the second half. They really hurt us in transition. They hurt us in the bounce. Their transition and bounce led to really good three-point shooting. They were really the aggressive, quicker team. The more energentic team throughout most of the second half."
On Baylor's 3-point shooting...
"They made 11 3-pointers, as they shot 46% for three as that certainly doesn't help us at all. They shot very well from the three.
"They're a great team and we certainly didn't underestimated them. We tried not to go down without a fight. In the first half, we hung tough with them as we had some open three's. It was a collective effort and we didn't do our part tonight."
