Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

On the play of the team…
"After finals last year we didn’t play as good of basketball as we would have liked going into the Christmas break. This year I thought we did a much better job with our last two wins. I really credit the upperclassmen leadership to begin with. They did a great job setting the tone. Sometimes, this time of year, people are more anxious to get home for the holidays and their minds aren’t on basketball, but they really set a good tone. They really went out and took care of business and we never let up for 40 minutes.”

On Ekpe Udoh…
"We knew he was a great defender (at Michigan) but like everybody else I think we have been pleasantly surprised with how good he is offensively. I knew after he practiced with us (last season) that he was very good. We knew he was going to be very good once he played this year.”

On the leadership of Ekpe Udoh…
"The best thing about Ekpe is that he sets the tone in practice every day. He is a true professional and that means that he comes to work every day and he wants to get better every day. His leadership (along with) Tweety Carter and Josh Lomers has set the tone every day in practice to allow us to get better because of their focus and drive.”

On the team through 10 games…
“(This season) has been a great start from the standpoint that they are the ninth youngest team in Division I basketball with only four upperclassmen. We had seven players play in a game this year for Baylor for the first time. Whenever you have that kind of turnover you are always unsure of how things are going to pan out, but 9-1 is a tremendous start. The area that we are really pleased with is defensive-rebounding. We have been very good for a young team in that category and that is where it all starts.”

Junior Guard LaceDarius Dunn

On his performance…
"I didn’t try to come out of my slump. Instead, I just came out to play my game. I just wanted another chance at it to come out and shoot the ball and hitting shots. It is my responsibility to knock them down. With four guys in double-figures we had a good game all-around.”

Junior Forward Ekpe Udoh

On the near triple-double…
"You know I wanted (the triple-double), everybody knew I wanted it. I got kind of tired and I got three attempts at it late and I should have got one of them. I’ll take it. It was just fun to come out today and get a win right before the holidays so you don’t have that sour taste when you are at home with your family.”

On the team after 10 games…
"I think we are pretty good. I think we are doing well. We would like to be 10-0, but we will take the 9-1 start. It is important for everybody to go home and take a break, but not mentally. We still have to get into the gym and watch film to get better because when we come back it gets serious. We have a hungry Arkansas team and a hungry South Carolina team to play, both on the road. If we go home and don’t work out during the five day break, it can go south.”

UT Arlington Head Coach Scott Cross

On Ekpe Udoh’s performance…
"He was phenomenal. I mean he did it all. He definitely looked like a guy that can do it at the next level. He scored, he rebounded, he blocked shots, he is tough and he is athletic. (He was) pretty impressive. I think he is a hard matchup for anybody, because he can put the ball on the floor. He can score on the low block. He is skilled, tough and he rebounds. He is going to be a tough matchup for a lot of people.”

On Baylor’s big lineup…
"No question they have some big ol’ shot blockers in there. Coach Drew has them playing very, very well. I think their style fits their personnel very, very well. They are rolling. I am very impressed.”

On this year’s Baylor team compared to last year’s team…
" They lost a couple of really good guards last year. They are probably better than they were last year and I thought they were really good last year. If they continue to play the way they are playing, I think they are going to have a great season. They are definitely a little bigger and stronger this year. A little more inside the lane, their system fits them very, very well.”

UT Arlington Senior Guard Marquez Haynes

On Baylor’s defense…
"They did a good job. They kind of went with a two-three matchup, so I was just trying to pick my spots to get off a good shot. I didn’t want to take bad shots, but they did a pretty good job. They are long. They did a pretty good job.”
