"This is different feeling for me because we haven’t won in the Metroplex since I’ve been at Baylor. We were 0-5, so I like this press conference a whole lot more than the others. You look at it, and we shoot 21 percent from the field in the second half, and yet we beat a top-15 team because I thought we defended well and rebounded well. We didn't finish our rebounding because we scored only six second-chance points. This team really defended and rebounded tonight, and that is why we won shooting only 21 percent. Mississippi State is a great team and I think everyone realizes their potential the rest of the year. Typically after Christmas, both teams come back sluggish, but I think both teams treated it like an NCAA Tournament game, so I am very proud on how the team responded down the stretch."
On coming out of the final timeout…
"We said we wanted to get a stop. We said that we wanted to be aggressive rather than passive an allow [Mississippi State] dictate. We were aggressive in that last play and really did not allow them to settle into anything."
On starting out the season 13-0 for the first time in Baylor history…
"Anytime you are a part of history means a lot. I think for what the upperclassmen have done with leading this team from day one, they are a group that deserves this credit and deserves this honor. I am very proud of them to have the opportunity to do that and very pleased. If you start out 13-0 in college basketball with the parity today, that is going to get you in a lot of record books."

On making the game-winning shot…
"First off, Quincy Acy set a great screen. Mississippi State played the screen instead of the ball, so I had a wide-open lane."
On today’s game after struggling early in the season…
"I just give credit to all my teammates because they keep me up and make me stay positive through all of it."

On the team’s mindset…
"I don't know how many games it has been now that have been close or gone down to the wire, but I know it has been a lot of them. Everyone is confident and we are not rattled. We just know when it comes down to it, we are going to come through."
