Dec. 30, 2013
Ferrell Center (Waco, Texas)
Attendance: 8,037

Baylor Head Coach Scott Drew

Opening Statement
"The first five minutes of the game, we weren't really moving, and we weren't very active. Then, we turned around and played thirty-five minutes of very good basketball. [We held] Oral Roberts to only 36% shooting on the night. For us to have twenty-four assists and only nine turnovers, that's very good. Now, we're finally doing a good job of taking care of the basketball. For us this is a good win, Oral Roberts is a good team, and I am very pleased with the win."

On Taurean Prince...
"I saw a lot of buckets. I saw a lot of pass-aheads too, and that got us out in transition for some easy buckets. I thought that was very critical. We got the ball in quick, got it up ahead to him, and he knew how to finish. I thought that was a good run for us."

On guards...
"I thought the guards didn't score a lot, but they did a great job of distributing. Ish [Wainwright] had 7 assists with only one turnover, Kenny [Chery] had 6 assists with no turnovers, and Royce [O'Neal] had 4 assists with no turnovers. They did a really good job of handling the ball."

Baylor Forward Taurean Prince

On how he was successful...
"I was seeing a lot of open spaces, getting out in transition, and trying to stay aggressive because I knew they kept fouling us. I wasn't looking for anything other than getting to the rim and finishing."

Baylor Forward Corey Jefferson

On his game...
"It was frustrating the way I got my second foul, and I knew I was probably done for the rest of the first half, which I was. So, I wanted to make a statement in the second half and go out there and give it everything I had. I had a horrible first half, and I wanted to go out there and erase that and perform like I know I can."

On his dunks...
"I think it gets the crowd and team going more than anything, and that is just something that I love to do. I love dunking, so that's a plus."

On guards...
"They did a great job of finding us, myself, Taurean, and the rest of the big guys. We give them all of the credit for finding us and taking care of the ball. They had a few steals too and were all over the floor. That's our guards for you."

Head Coach Scott Sutton:

Opening Statement:
"I just told the team, I have been coaching for 15 years and there have been very few games where we have been run out of the gym and tonight, that is what happened. Baylor is a very good team and I thought they played well tonight. It is a tough matchup for us. We are not a very good zone team because we don't shoot it very well as evident in us going 1-13 [from 3's]. They are so long and athletic, it is hard to get good clean looks at the basket. I thought we hung around for a while, but in the second half they ran us out of the gym and that is disappointing. We have played three top ten teams, and I think this team is the most gifted team we have played as far as athleticism and size. They are very deserving of their ranking."

On Baylor's size advantage:
"Size bothers Shawn [Glover] although he gets 22 points. It is tough when he has a 7-1 guy on him. I thought we did a terrible job of attacking the zone. I actually thought in the second half we did a little bit better. We got the ball inside. I thought Denell [Henderson] played like the player we recruited, and we need him to play like that. We don't shoot it well, and our guards aren't great at penetrating. They are small and when you go against a team as big as they are it is not a very good matchup.

On Baylor's Depth:
"The first half, Cory Jefferson got in foul trouble and didn't play very much, I think he played five minutes. We did a great job on O'Neal, Gathers, and Heslip who only had one three, but it was Prince that killed us. He gets 14 first-half points. I thought Austin played as aggressive as I have seen him play in the first half with twelve shots. (Baylor) is deep and very, very talented. Like I said, they are very deserving of being a top ten team."
