IRVING, Texas - Baylor men's basketball juniors LaceDarius Dunn and Ekpe Udoh were named Phillips 66 Big 12 Co-Player and Co-Rookie of the Week, respectively, for Dec. 27-Jan. 3 in voting by a panel of media covering the conference. Dunn shares his weekly honor with Kansas' Cole Aldrich and Udoh with Iowa State's Marquis Gilstrap.
It the second weekly award for both players this season and the fourth of Dunn's career. Monday marks the first time that Baylor has won both awards the same week in the league's 14-year history.
Dunn led the Bears in scoring in both of their road victories over the SEC last week, averaging 20.0 points and 4.0 rebounds, while shooting 53.3 percent from 3-point range (8-of-15). He scored a game-high 19 points in Baylor's 70-47 win at Arkansas (Dec. 30) and followed with a game-high 21 points and a season-high seven rebounds in the 85-74 win at South Carolina (Jan. 2). He became the first player in school history to post 15-plus rebounds and six-plus blocks in back-to-back games (16 rebounds, nine blocks vs. UTA, Dec. 20).
Last Saturday at South Carolina, Udoh recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and a career-high 20 rebounds in the 11-point win.
