Former Baylor basketball standout and NBA guard Micheal Williams will be honored at halftime of the men's basketball game against Texas, Saturday, Feb. 19 at 8 p.m.
While at Baylor, Williams was named an All-American in 1988 and still holds the career record for most free throws made at 488. A two-time first-team All-SWC performer, he finished his career as the second-leading scorer in school history with 1,854 points. Williams also holds the school's all-time record for steals (282) and ranks second on its all-time assists list (464). He helped Baylor to an NIT bid in 1986-87 as a junior, then led the Bears to a 23-11 record and the NCAA Tournament as a senior in 1987-88. The NCAA bid was the school's first in some 38 seasons.
A second-round pick of the NBA's Detroit Pistons in 1988, Williams played 10 years for five teams including the Pistons (1988-89), the Charlotte Hornets (1989-90), the Indiana Pacers (1990-1992), the Minnesota Timberwolves (1992-96) and the Toronto Raptors (1997-98).
