WACO, Texas - Baylor and Waco will be the epicenter of the college basketball landscape when ESPN's College GameDay Driven by State Farm broadcasts live Saturday, March 5, from the Ferrell Center. Later that night, the Bears will host long-time rival Texas for the regular-season finale, which will also serve as "Senior Night" for Baylor's all-time leading scorer LaceDarius Dunn.
College GameDay Driven by State Farm will feature host Rece Davis with analysts Jay Bilas, Digger Phelps, Hubert Davis, Bob Knight and sideline reporter Erin Andrews. Admission for the morning ESPN College GameDay broadcast is free. Seating will be general admission and doors will open at 7 a.m. The live national broadcast airs from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on ESPNU and continues from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on ESPN.
"Baylor-Texas is emerging into one of the nation's top basketball rivalries," Baylor Director of Athletics Ian McCaw said, "and the presence of ESPN's College GameDay will add a great deal to the festive environment in the Ferrell Center. We are looking forward to College GameDay meeting `Baylor Nation' on March 5th."
Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q will provide free breakfast tacos to the first 1,500 fans; the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a free t-shirt. One lucky Baylor student in attendance will have the opportunity to shoot a half-court shot to win $18,000 courtesy of State Farm. For everyone who attends the broadcast, State Farm will donate $1 to The Bear Pit with a potential contribution of more than $10,000.
"It doesn't get any bigger or better than ESPN College GameDay coming to your campus," Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. "What a tremendous privilege, honor and compliment to `Baylor Nation' and everyone in Central Texas.
"Baylor's campus and the Ferrell Center will be rocking come March 5th," Drew said. "On a personal note, it's going to be tough to get any sleep that week, knowing that College GameDay is going to be in the Ferrell Center!"
Fans will be allowed to bring banners, signs and flags to the College GameDay broadcast, but all items will be screened prior to entering the Ferrell Center. A poster pit will be available for students and fans to make signs for the morning broadcast. Tailgating spots will be available in the parking lot next to Baylor Ballpark.
ESPN Central Texas will be broadcasting live from the Ferrell Center on Friday, March 4 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for "You Make The Call" and will have special live morning show Saturday, March 5 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
