WACO, Texas - Baylor is one of three men's basketball programs that will wear the new adizero basketball uniform by adidas during conference and NCAA tournament play, the apparel company announced Tuesday.
Baylor, Cincinnati and Louisville will debut their new uniforms during their respective conference tournaments and will wear the uniforms throughout the NCAA tournament. Baylor will debut its new uniform March 8 against Kansas State.
The new adizero uniforms feature a limited edition design and coloring created only for this season's NCAA tournament run. Each uniform's amplified school colors pay homage to the high intensity of March Madness and the electrifying play during the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Championship.
The new print uses a pixilated pattern instead of a traditional, heavier, solid pattern to shed weight and add speed. The print's camouflage design is inspired by teamwork and working together to attack the court as a group.
The adidas adizero basketball uniform is the lightest uniform in program history - more than 20 percent lighter than previous uniforms. The uniforms are adidas' latest innovation to make athletes lighter so they can be faster and perform better on the court.
Building on Revolution 30 uniform technology, the jersey backs feature a ClimaCool zone which conducts heat away from the body through a combination of ventilation channels and materials that disperse heat for optimal moisture-wicking and breathability - keeping the jersey light even during sweating.
To help reduce overall weight, player names and numbers are bonded, rather than stitched to the jersey. The short uses a 4-way stretch-woven material that works with the body's natural movement to increase mobility. The short liner was removed to eliminate unnecessary weight and provide a more comfortably, closer fit with compression base layers.
Players will wear the new adidas Team Crew basketball sock which uses compression throughout the entire sock for added stability and CLIMALITE moisture wicking technology to reduce weight added by sweating, keeping the foot cool, dry and light.
