2011-12 USBWA All-District Teams

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Baylor All-Big 12 performers Quincy Acy, Pierre Jackson and Perry Jones III were selected to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District VII team, the organization announced Tuesday.

Baylor placed multiple players on the USBWA All-District team for only the second time in program history. In 1988, Darryl Middleton and Micheal Williams were named to the All-District VI team. In all, nine players have earned USBWA All-District distinction in the Scott Drew era, joining Terrance Thomas (2004), Aaron Bruce (2005), Curtis Jerrells (2008, 2009), Ekpe Udoh (2010) and LaceDarius Dunn (2011).

Acy, a second-team All-Big 12 and unanimous Big 12 All-Defensive selection by the coaches, averaged 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and nearly 2.0 blocks in 31 regular-season games. Acy was also a unanimous selection to the Big 12 All-Defensive Team. The Mesquite, Texas, native ranks second in school history in field goal percentage (60.6), second in blocks (168), sixth in rebounding (769) and 12th in scoring (1,279). He is also a part of the winningest senior class in program history, amassing 95 career victories. Acy picked up All-Big 12 second-team honors from Dallas Morning News and honorable mention from the AP

A Bob Cousy Award finalist for the top collegiate point guard, Jackson led the team in scoring (13.5), assists (5.6) and steals (1.7). The Las Vegas native, who has been a part of eight go-ahead, game-tying or game-winning plays this season, was one of Baylor’s two Big 12 All-Rookie Team selections. He also earned first-team All-Big 12 honors from the Kansas City Star and and second-team accolades from the AP and Dallas Morning News.

Jones III, the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, earned third-team All-Big 12 honors from the league’s coaches and second-team accolades from the Kansas City Star, AP and Jones III averaged 13.1 points and a team-best 7.5 rebounds in 26 games, while posting seven double-doubles.

Baylor was the only school with multiple All-District VII selections. A complete listing of the USBWA District VII awards follows.
