WACO, Texas - Baylor senior guard LaceDarius Dunn will don the green and gold one last time. The Baylor and Big 12 all-time leading scorer has been invited to participate in the 23rd annual College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championships on Thursday, March 31, in Houston.
The College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will be televised on a tape-delay March 31 at 8 p.m. CDT on ESPN2. The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Hofheinz Pavilion on the University of Houston campus. Dan Dakich, Jimmy Dykes, Brad Nessler and Holly Rowe will call all the action from the star-studded event.
Dunn, who will take part in the 3-Point competition, concluded his stellar college career as the Baylor and Big 12 all-time leading scorer with 2,285 points. The Monroe, La., is Baylor's all-time leader with 388 career 3-point field goals, finishing one shy of the Big 12 record of 389 held by Texas' A.J. Abrams. He also finished as Baylor's career leader in games played (134), overall wins (87), Big 12 wins (32) and free throw percentage (.836).
A complete 24-player roster of the nation's elite men's and women's college basketball players will be named in the coming weeks to participate in the 2011 State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships, which is annually held in the Final Four city. Previous event participants include Gary Payton (Oregon State), Allan Houston (Tennessee), Steve Nash (Santa Clara), Michael Finley (Wisconsin), Bobby Hurley (Duke), Desmond Mason (Oklahoma State), Scoonie Penn (Ohio State), Damon Stoudamire (Arizona), Bryce Drew (Valparaiso), A.J. Guyton (Indiana), Katie Gearlds (Purdue), Jennifer Jacoby (Purdue), Kelly Mazzante (Penn State) and Cappie Pondexter (Rutgers).
Tickets for the 2011 College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships are $15 for adults and $10 for students (ages 3 to high school) and can be purchased only at www.collegeslam.com.
