WACO, Texas – San Antonio product Taurean Waller-Prince has signed a Financial Aid Contract for 2012-13, Baylor head coach Scott Drew announced Tuesday.

Waller-Prince, who originally signed an NLI with Long Island in November, joins three other Texas stars on Baylor’s top-five recruiting class – Isaiah Austin (Arlington), L.J. Rose (Houston) and Chad Rykhoek (Fort Worth). The 6-foot-7 forward from San Antonio’s Earl Warren High School is ranked No. 7 overall in the state of Texas by TexasHoops.com.

“Taurean is a late-blooming talent that really took off his senior season,” Drew said. “He continues to improve each year and we're excited to have him as part of the Baylor family."

As a senior, he averaged 21.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.5 blocks and 2.3 steals, earning TABC All-State and unanimous All-District 27-5A honors. He also garnered Class 5A All-Tournament team honors and was named San Antonio Express-News All-Area Player of the Year. He led Warren to a 35-6 season and a state semifinals appearance in 2011-12.

He averaged 16.4 points and 11.6 rebounds as a junior at Warren, leading his team to a 26-10 record and earning All-Area honors. He was a member of the San Antonio Legends AAU program.

Baylor advanced to its second Elite Eight in three seasons, winning a school-record 30 games in 2011-12. With the departures of Perry Jones III, Quincy Miller and Quincy Acy, the Bears have added an impressive recruiting class that ranks No. 4 by Scout.com, No. 5 by ESPNU and No. 6 by Rivals.com.
