Tim Bush will compete on Athletes In Action's summer tour of France.
Aug. 7, 2006
The team, made up of current and former collegiate players and coached by St. Louis assistant coach Jason Grunkmeyer, will participate in a four-day training camp beginning Aug. 10 before leaving for France. The squad will play six games over a six-day stretch beginning Aug. 19 with a game in Bordeaux.
"Our basketball staff is excited for Tim," Baylor head coach Scott Drew said. "Traveling with Athletes In Action this summer gives Tim a great opportunity to develop, not only in basketball but also spiritually and culturally."
Bush, a 6-6 forward, returns for his fourth and final season at Baylor this fall. The former LSU transfer has started all 41 games at Baylor and has averaged 8.8 points and 4.3 rebounds.
The AIA France team is one of seven Athletes In Action men's basketball teams competing internationally this summer. The roster includes three former college players; Rob Kampman who played at Wichita State, Bryan Richardson from West Florida and Ryan Sears of Creighton. The remaining nine roster players are current student-athletes. In addition to Bush those include: Ajay Calvin (Drake), Daven Harmeling (Washington State), McKale Jones (Tennessee Martin), Kevin Lisch (St. Louis), Trent Meacham (Illinois), Anthony Tolliver and Dane Watts (Creighton) and Jamar Wilson (Albany).
Athletes in Action is the sports ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Dave Hannah, who desired to capitalize on society's great love of sports and utilize the platform given to athletes to reach the world for Jesus Christ, founded AIA in 1966. AIA's outreach range includes ministry to college and professional athletes and coaches globally across a great number of sports. International competing teams partner with in-country staff and other mission organizations to resource Christian ministry around the world.
