WACO, Texas – Baylor men’s basketball will be featured as part of ESPN’s sixth-annual 24-hour college basketball Tip-Off Marathon, the network announced Monday. The Bears’ Nov. 12 game against South Carolina will tip off at 2 p.m. CT and air on ESPN.
The 2013-14 season marks the fourth time Baylor will be featured in the marathon, and Baylor has won all three previous appearances. The Bears defeated Centenary in 2008, La Salle in 2010 and San Diego State in 2011. Baylor is 2-2 in the all-time series against South Carolina, with all four games in the series won by the road team. BU won 85-74 when the teams last met on Jan. 2, 2010, in Columbia, S.C.
Head coach Scott Drew also announced two changes to the Bears’ 2013-14 schedule that was released last week. Baylor’s game against Savannah State has been moved from Dec. 10 to Jan. 3, and the Bears have added a Dec. 1 game against Hardin-Simmons.
With the addition of the South Carolina game, Baylor is now scheduled to play at least 17 games on the ESPN family of networks in 2013-14. The Bears return three starters from last season’s team that went 23-14 and won the NIT championship. BU is ranked No. 16 in Dick Vitale’s preseason top 40 and No. 19 in ESPN.com’s early preseason top 25.
Baylor returns one of the nation’s best frontcourts with Cory Jefferson, Isaiah Austin, Rico Gathers, Taurean Prince and Chad Rykhoek, and the Bears also have experience on the outside with Brady Heslip, Gary Franklin and Logan Lowery returning.
