Complete Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week Release
IRVING, Texas - Baylor junior guard LaceDarius Dunn was named the Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week for Nov. 9-15 Monday in voting by a panel of media covering the conference.
It is the first player honor for Dunn after he won top rookie honors twice during the 2007-08 season. The Monroe, La., native is the first Bear to earn top player recognition since Kevin Rogers did it in 2008.
Dunn averaged 30.5 points as Baylor won its first two games of the season. The junior guard started the year with a game-high 32 points in the Bears' 86-58 win over Norfolk State (Nov. 13). He followed with a game-high 29 points, including six three-point field goals, in Baylor's 71-69 victory over Hartford (Nov. 15). In two outings, Dunn shot 48.8 percent (21-of-43) from the floor, including 50 percent (10-of-20) from 3-point range. He also buried 90 percent (9-of-10) of his shots from the free throw line.
The three-point specialist has scored in double figures in each of his last 15 contests dating back to last season and has made at least one 3-pointer in 14 straight games. Dunn currently sits 17th all-time in scoring at Baylor with 1,096 career points. He trails William Chatmon (1969-71) by eight points for 16th (1,104) and Larry Gatewood (1967-70) by 24 points for 15th (1,120).
Baylor concludes its season-opening stretch of three games in four days when the Bears host the Southern Jaguars Monday at 7 p.m. CST in the Ferrell Center. Baylor (2-0) will also look to start 3-0 for the third straight season.
