2010 (Junior): Played in 10 of 13 games, started nine at outside linebacker (missed three games due to ankle sprain)... Totaled 61 tackles (33 solo), 4.5 tackles-for-loss (-9 yards) and one interception... 6.1 average tackles-per-game ranked third on team... Starter in first eight games before suffering high ankle sprain in win over Kansas State in week 8... Made first career start in season-opening win over Sam Houston State, made four tackles... Had three tackles, an assisted tackle-for-loss and one pass breakup in win over Buffalo in second game... Made then-career-high 11 tackles (seven solo) in win at Rice in fourth game... Totaled seven stops, one for loss, had an interception and QB hurry in win vs. Kansas in fifth game... Led team with career-high 13 tackles (11 solo) vs. Texas Tech in sixth game... Had one tackle before leaving KSU game due to injury... Missed following three games before returning in backup role vs. No. 16 Oklahoma in 12th game -- had three tackles, one for loss... 2009 (Sophomore): Played in all 12 games as reserve linebacker and on special teams as sophomore in 2009 to earn second letter... Finished with 35 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack and one interception on season... Also had one forced fumble and one pass breakup... Saw action at linebacker in 10 games, played only special teams vs. UConn in second game and at Iowa State in sixth game... Had five tackles vs. NSU in third game... Made career-first interception in win over Kent State in fourth game... Made five stops (three solo), including one for loss, at No. 19 Oklahoma in fifth game... Recorded season-high eight tackles, including career-first sack, and forced a fumble vs. No. 14 Okla. State in seventh game... Made four tackles (two solo) at Texas A&M in 11th game.

2008 (Redshirt Freshman): Played in all 12 games to earn his first letter as a redshirt freshman on special teams and as a reserve linebacker... Tallied 14 tackles on the season with one tackle for loss and one pass breakup... Saw action at linebacker in nine of 12 contests... Made two tackles and had pass breakup in win over Washington State... Had one tackle, for a 1-yard loss, at Oklahoma State... Made a season-high three tackles at No. 5 Texas... Posted five multiple-tackle games. 2007 (True Freshman):  Elected to sit out season as redshirt... Moved to linebacker during spring practice after working at safety during fall.

High School:  Clements High School, Sugar Land, Texas... Talented two-way performer, two-time All-District 23-5A performer... District 23-5A utility MVP... Houston Chronicle Top 100 Area selection... 2006 Texas Football Texas Top 300 member, second-team preseason Super Team pick and tabbed one of state's top 20 defensive backs... Earned 2006 second-team All-Greater Houston honors from both Houston Chronicle and after registering 59 tackles (37 solos) and three interceptions... Also caught 17 passes for 350 yards and five touchdowns, rushed 87 times for 500 yards and five touchdowns... Helped 2006 Ranger squad to 8-3 record and district co-championship... Credited with 47 tackles and three interceptions as junior when Clements finished 7-4 and advanced to Division II bi-district finals... Academic all-district selection also participated in PALS and FCA.

Personal:  Son of Ken and Brenda Coffey, Elliot James Coffey was born Dec. 3, 1989... Father, Ken, was safety for NFL's Washington Redskins (1983-86)... Enjoys reading, writing and drawing...
