Reed Heim is in his second season as the Baylor football defensive graduate assistant in 2009. In this position he assists Larry Hoefer with the outside linebackers.

A former three-time all-conference linebacker at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, Heim has eight seasons of coaching experience.

Following his graduation from Austin in 2000 (degree in Business Administration) Heim coached one season at his alma mater in 2001, working with the inside linebackers.

Heim coached one season at Louisiana College in Pineville, La., before joining the coaching staff at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va. He spent four seasons (2003-06) at VMI, where he coached the defensive ends and linebackers. He also served three seasons as video coordinator and one season as recruiting coordinator.

He was most recently the offensive graduate assistant at SMU, where he assisted in coaching the tight ends.

Heim's football experience includes stints as a player and coach in Europe. He played and coached on two club teams in Europe and played middle linebacker and fullback for the Vienna Rangers in Vienna, Austria in the summer of 2001. Heim also played and coached for the SHA Unicorns in Schwaebisch Hall, Germany.
