Three-year letterman at deep snapper... Walk-on, played in 17 career games at Baylor... Member of senior class that played in three straight bowl games for first time in school history and won back-to-back bowl games for first time since 1985-86... Transferred to Baylor from Western New Mexico... 2012 Academic All-Big 12 second team selection... Three-time Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll selection.
2012 (Senior): Played in two of 13 games as senior... Made snaps in season-opening win over SMU as well as win over Kansas in eighth game... Named to Academic All-Big 12 second team... Selected to Fall 2012 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
2011 (Junior): Began season as Bears' primary deep snapper on place-kicks, played only two of 13 games due to injury... Suffered foot injury in second game vs. Stephen F. Austin... Returned to dress for final four contests but did not play due to coaches decision... Named to Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll in fall 2011 and spring 2012.
2010 (Sophomore): Played all 13 games in first season at Baylor as sophomore walk-on, earned first collegiate letter... Primary long snapper on all place-kicks.
Junior College: Redshirted 2008 season at Western New Mexico... Played 2009 season at Phoenix College as redshirt freshman long snapper.
High School: Played at Shadow Mountain High School in Phoenix, Ariz., three-year varsity member under head coach Josh Sekoch... Earned All-Region 4A Desert Sky honorable-mention as senior in 2007... Played defensive end and wide receiver... Totaled 39 tackles (26 solo) with seven sacks - had season-high seven tackles in win over Thunderbird... Totaled 13 receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns... Caught season-high six passes for 74 yards and two TDs vs. McClintock.
Personal: Son of Marc and Patty Santa Cruz... Full name is Marcus James Santa Cruz... Born Sept. 28, 1989, in Phoenix, Ariz.... Graduated from Baylor in December 2012 with degree in general studies in health, human performance and recreation.
